Stanger, you watch way too much TV if it was taking 10min to start.

It definitely sped up my startup some - but not as much as Stangers

Great tip. Just curious as to why this isn't the default setting. Secondly, why not make it an option in detailed settings that you can change?

It currently takes me over 12 minutes to start.

I used this setting when it first came out. See post number 6 http://forums.sagetv.com/forums/show...65&postcount=6 in this thread. But I lost my trust that it was working properly. After being up for over 4 hours I still did not see any intelligent recordings. I decided to go back to the proven method even if the start up time is slower.

My IRs showed up, somewhere between a few and 24 hours later

I figured I'd give it a shot. I don't really care if IR's get recorded or not, I kill 99% of them before they're recorded.

I'm thinking no more than I restart Sage, I'd rather have it require less of a window to restart than to have my IRs there right away.

Has anyone been able to answer this question? The limited setting made Sage start much faster (down from 8+ minutes) but I also don't use Intelligent Recordings at all, so I would rather turn it off than have my Sage server process stuff in the background for hours. Does setting disable_carny_init=false affect anything besides Intelligent Recordings?

DO NOT SET THAT PROPERTY TO true. It will break things. The proper way to speed up startup is to set limited_carny_init=true.
