SageService Question
As long as I'm asking questions about my new setup:
Yesterday SageService stopped working. It's set to recover (re-start), but there was a Vista message saying it stopped, and that apparently stopped it from re-starting. My old machine was XP. Was that just a glitch or do I have to turn off some Vista notifications? If so, how? |

Okay, it happened again today. If SageService doesn't restart under Vista, that takes away about half the reason to use service.
I can't believe I'm the first person to have this happen. |

Are you running the Sage service as the actual Adminstrator ID of the box? If not you may want to try that. Also check your event viewer and find out why the service is stopping. When you ran the Sage install did you right-click and "run as administrator"?

No, I didn't right click and "run as administrator." What does that do? |

I never saw the Sage Service just stop in Vista, let alone raise a prompt and not let it recover. I did disable UAC and made sure the service was running as Administrator with a password. Gerry

Well...never say never.
Just to bring this up again I had this happen to me 3 times now. I'm running Windows Home Server. Once I woke up and everything had stopped at the extender. I finally went and checked the server and the service had just stopped. I restarted and it ran for a bit. The next time I looked at it, it had stopped. This occurred 3 times in restarting it. I finally restarted the whole server. No errors are turning up in the event viewer. Two nights in a row it has happened around the same time. 10 pm. I have nothing to scheduled to run then. Last night the wife was watching a recording and it just stopped again. took me 2 restarts of the service for it to catch. No errors on screen or in the event log. I am going to enable debug logging but was curious if anyone else has noticed this. Service runs as admin with a password. I have it set to restart. Gerry

I have a SageService Question and I don't want to start another thread for it, so OP forgive me for thread crapping, but I think your question has been answered.
Here is mine. If I run SageService, I cannot start the SageIV on my computer. I can use the SageHD extender just fine, but I cannot watch Sage on my computer. When I open the Sage.exe program, it starts to load (the splash screen comes up), but quits without warning. If I stop the SageService, then I am able to pull up Sage on my computer. I've tried to read the manuals, but I don't see any where that says you cannot use Sage when running the SageService. Sorry for such a newbee question. I just feel that there is something wrong with my setup. Any suggestions? Thanks, EDIT - OK I looked in the Sage manual again and there has to be an issue with my software setup. Here is a quote from the manual: Quote:
