Using ffdshow while viewing DVDs
Has anyone figured out how to get Sage to use the ffdshow filter during DVD playback? I have it working for TV playback, but cannot get it working for DVD playback, where I'm most interested in it
thanks, |

Have you enabled raw video in ffdshow? And would you need to configure Sage for VMR?-I don't think ffdshow works on overlay.

Yes, ffdshow works for viewing recorded TV shows, and it is setup so that it automagically inserts itself into the graph (enabled raw input).
But DVD viewing does not use it. thanks, |

I've seen this too, I can get ffdshow in the graph by selecting "Default (VMR on XP)" as the renderer, but it only works with TV, not DVD. It seems (wild guess here) that with "Default (VMR on XP)" SageTV lets Dshow render the output in TV mode but explicitly connects to VMR in DVD mode.
I'm hoping sometime in the 2.0 beta an option will be added to explicitly tell Sage to use additional filters such as ffdshow or the nV Post Processor that comes with Forceware Multimedia (nVDVD 3). |

Which version of ffdshow are you guys using (released v. alpha)?
I would like to get some kind of post processing to improve my PQ. I am currently using Elecard Dscaler but still not quite happy... I am running AMD 2500 CPU with 256MB RAM, will I need more RAM to run ffdshow? When are these new nvDVD codecs (with integrated post processing) supposed to be released?

When I use ffdshow it's the latest alpha, but I don't generally bother.
The last I heard about the new nVDVD release was "soon" so who knows. |
