Frame Rate Delay?
I noticed in sage 1.4 you could notice a frame rate delay, kinda stuttering picture. I got some help on the forums and the fix was using the power dvd decoder (cyberlink). It worked great in 1.4 however the problem is back with beta 2 and isn't fixed with the cyberlink decoder. You especially notice it while watching sporting events like hockey or football.
Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks |

System Specs:
Intel Celeron 1.7 256 MB DDR 120 GIG Hard Drive ASUS Nvidia 5200 Haupauge PVR 250 Windows XP, all updated CPU usage probably average's at 50%, which was the same sa 1.4 Thanks |

If you monitor CPU% when watching live TV, does it spike very high during your frame skip? I assume you did not use HW acceleration in 1.4.1?

The frame skip happens every second or so. I am using the phase frame skip cause that is the best I can describe it what is happening, I don't know if that is actually what is happening or not.
So to answer your question no the CPU usage does not spike while the frame skip is happening. I have never adjusted the HW acceleration so it would be left at whatever the default is for 1.4 and for 2. Thanks for your help. |

I found out what you are talking about, in regards to the HW acceleratio in PowerDVD. I enabled hard ware acceleration the probelm got much worse. So I turned it off and the problem went back to normal choppyness.
I upgraded to 2.11 beta and now the problem is even worse, not only do notice it horrifically on sporting events but you notice it alot on normal tv shows as well now. I actually can't watch it, it gives me a headache. Does anyone have any suggestions? I sure hope this could be fixed asap as I can't really test sage since I can't watch it without getting a headache. |

Have you tried all possible combinations of overlay and MPEG Modes in the Detailed Setup-->Video config screen? I'm not sure about the Cyberlink decoder, but you may need to have SageTV set to Overlay (not VMR) and then try each of the MPEG Modes (A, B, C, and D) until you find one that works. Don't forget to click the button to Reload the Media Player after changing the settings. If you set an MPEG Mode and get an error when reloading the media player, try the next MPEG Mode until you've tried all 4...at least one of them is bound to work if your video card and drivers support hardware acceleration. If you don't get any errors after reloading the media player, go to your guide and pick something to watch and see if the changes made any difference.
I had this exact same problem on my EPIA system until I enabled hardware acceleration with the Hauppauge Intervideo decoders (the registry tweak mentioned in the forums here) and setting SageTV to Overlay and MPEG Mode B (I think).
