Successful Hardware Combinations

Can anywhere direct me to a listing of hardware combinations that people are happy with? I've seen a couple of sites where Myth users have listed what they are using, and how stable it is. I haven't yet seen that for Sage, and several sites have pointed out that Sage itself doesn't make any recommendations as to what Video cards work well, and what motherboard/processor (also speed) combinations work well.

For example, I'd like to have a video card with component out, and I'll be using a PVR-150 MCE, and either a second one or a HVR-1600. I've played a little with a 1600 on a dual core 3 Ghz Intel machine, and the video seems kind of jumpy - that's on the record side since I can play the video back, and it seems to miss the same frames. Also, when scanning for QAM, several channels are missing that are there when scanned using the crappy WinTV app.

What kind of motherboard / processor combo should I buy that will meet the needs without being overkill. Also, what kind of video card should I get that will give me component - Currently SD, but maybe HD someday. I'm not overly impressed with the S-Video out on a ATI/Visiontek x1300.

Also, I've noticed that the remote that comes with the HVR-1600 does not work with Sage, even though I've told it about it. It does work with WinTV. I did uninstall the IR stuff for WinTV before running Sage.

Thanks for the help.

If you uninstall the Hauppauge IR software, their remote won't work -- SageTV doesn't control the Hauppauge remote; the remote's IR software sends codes to SageTV.
