STV update for Google videos in v6.3.10

Attached is an updated SageTV3.xml STV (v6.3.10.3; April 15, 2008), for use with the current release version of SageTV (v6.3.10).

This STV has been updated to handle YouTube video links within Google video search results, since the search result data format has changed.

This is the only change in the STV.

Note: To use this STV update, copy it to the <install dir>\SageTV\STVs\SageTV3\ directory, replacing the existing SageTV3.xml file.

There is no need to restart SageTV, so if you keep SageTV running during this update, reload your STV in SageTV via Setup -> Detailed Setup -> Advanced -> SageTV Application Package.

BTW: would someone who has downloaded this try a Google video search & see if the videos play?

I know that the first couple of results when searching for "real time april 2008" (w/o quotes) are videos from YouTube. The videos in that search now work for me, but it would be good to hear from someone else as a double check -- thanks.

I wouldn't know which videos are from YouTube for other searches w/o seeing the search's RSS feed. So, if your search results has videos that don't play, I would need to know the text used for the Google video search.

Thanks -- based on your comment plus the fact that no one has chimed in saying that it doesn't work for them, I've replaced the v6.3.10 default STV in the downloads section with this update. (The link is in the first post.)

Sorry this is such a noob question, Andy, but maybe there's someone else out there as clueless as me and your answer might help them too.

Due to various STVi plug-ins and customizations, I am currently on about STV "-9". But having no programming knowledge, I don't know exactly what this means (other than the file has been changed/replaced 9 times). So my question is, when I download this update and replace the SageTV3.xml file, is this still being read, or has that one not been "used" since the first plug-in "replacement"? In other words, do these plug-ins replace that file, or do they supplement it and the original is still being used as well?

This STV is the base default STV. If you are using a custom STV, then this one will not be used unless you switch back to it. If you switch back to it, your imports will not be used until you re-import them; however, there is a customization that will batch process your imports so you can go back tot he base default STV and redo all your imports. Please see the customization forum for info on doing that -- the sticky index of customizations lists it.

Is there any way updates of this nature could be packaged as an STVi so that we don't have to re-imports all of our customizations? I completely understand if the answer is a resounding "No" for technical reasons, it would just be so much more convenient than re-importing everything, even thought the batch importer makes it much easier.
