HD100 or HDHomeRun?

I'm gettig sick and tired of waiting for the HD100's to come in. I just heard about the HDHomeRun which appears to support SageTV and is cheaper.

Why would I NOT want to buy a HDHomeRun over a HD100?

The HDHomeRun and the HD100 are completely different kinds of devices. The HDHomeRun is a recording device. It has a couple digital tuners which let you record ATSC and QAM sources. It's a little different from other tuners; instead of plugging it in via USB or into a PCI slot, you connect it to your home network and it sends mpeg2 streams to your server over that network.

The HD100 is a media extender. You put it into your TV and your home network, it connects to your Sage server and lets you play back things you've recorded and display it on your TV. The HD100 doesn't have any tuners by itself. The server must have a tuner (perhaps a HDHomeRun is connected to the server) to actually watch TV using the HD100.

Are you mixing up the HD100 with the Hauppauge WinTV HD PVR that should be released in the coming weeks?
