Placeshifter settings self contained?

Are the placeshifter settings separate from the server? What I mean is if I change something like remote key mappings on the placeshifter will it also change the server?

The settings are stored on the server but will affect only that particular client machine. Each Placeshifter or Extender client has its own .properties file on the server, separate from the server's .properties files.

From the other direction: if the property that a remote client (Placeshifter; Media Extender) is looking for is not in its own properties file, it will use the setting in the server's Sage.properties file, if the property exists there. So, in certain cases, it can be possible to make a change on the server that affects a Placeshifter client. That's one way to set defaults for remote clients.
