Broadcast flags

http://arstechnica.com/news.ars/post...rm-stinks.html

Is this DRM feature implemented in SageTV? I wonder if its OS-specific to Vista / MCE only...

Another reason to stay w/ XP?

The broadcast flag doesn't exist, the Supreme Court ruled the FCC didn't have the authority to create/mandate it.

Windows/Vista Media Center is the only PC PVR that supports any form of rights management AFAIK.

Oh, and the OS has nothing to do with it, it's all about the PVR app.

That's great news - I was concerned when I read the post. Apparently, no one told ABC about the Supreme Court decision as they have turned it on either accidentally or inadvertently (?)

Yeah, if you really want to get into it, the "flag" itself exists and is part of the MPEG-2 Transport Stream that is broadcast. However the legislation/rulemaking behind it was deep sixed so there's no requirement for anyone to listen to it.

To answer your question specifically no SageTV doesn't look at that.
