I am trying to get this working on a server 2003 box. I am not having good luck. The drivers and software install, but I am unable to capture anything, or configure the blaster. Does anyone have any suggestions.

P.S. I know that it is not supported on that platform, but I would like to get it to work if possible.

JVL711 - I'm curious what you find. My Sage server is also running W2k3..... hopefully it can run the XP drivers successfully?? Otherwise, I'm going to have to rebuild my client PC and server PC. Ouch.

I upgraded to sp1, and tried the drivers from shs, but I still am not having any luck. Everything installs without issue, but when I go to configure the blaster, the software says no blaster available. When I try to use the Total Media software it says the device is not available, or being used by another application. Very annoying.

I got the HD-PVR running on my WHS box. I have the same problem with the Total Media software, but HD records fine in SageTV. I am using firewire to change channels, so I don't know about the blaster issue...

Are you able to capture video with SageTV with the device, without IR blasting, or do neither work as-is with Windows 2003 at the moment?

I get a capture error in sage. I am not at home, I will post some log info later. What are the main differences between 2003 and WHS?

I think WHS was based on Windows 2003, so it's kinda like "Windows 2003 Server Home Edition."

I also run Windows 2003, so this worries me that there are no drivers for it. And secondly, if I have to upgrade, I would go with Vista 64 bit, which I'm not sure there are available drivers either. Come on Hauppauge, provide us with some driver options!

Well, I currently use a USB-UIRT for channel changing on my sat box. Assuming all that is broken is the IR blaster portion of the driver/software for W2k3, then I guess I'm okay.... hopefully :P

I am still unable to resolve the issue. I installed the hd-pvr to make sure there was not a hardware issue or a problem with the way I was installing the software and drivers. I had it working in 15 minutes on this other machine, which was a XP SP2 machine.

Mine arrived today. I'll be attempting to get mine to work on Windows Server 2003, as well. I'll let you know what the results are (think happy thoughts :P :P )

Good luck! If you get it to work can you tell me your setup so I can try to identify what is different about mine that might be causing these issues.

My Setup is as follows:
2200+ XP x2
1Gig ram
Widows Server 2003 SP1
HDHR
PVR-250
HD100
Media MVP

As a side note I was looking up to see if there was any changes in SP2 that might make a difference, and I saw that WHS is based off of SP2 of Server 2003. I am going to try an update to SP2 to see if it makes a difference.

Has anyone tried the HD-PVR on Win2k8 Server? If not, I'll guinea pig it in a couple of weeks

HD-PVR Working (with caveats) on Windows Server 2003

Hey guys, I've got the HD-PVR working on Windows Server 2003. Here are the specs and outstanding issues:

Specs (server):
Windows Server 2003 Standard - SP2
AthlonXP 2600+
512MB RAM (sad, huh? but it works :P)
Video card (not that it matters): GeForce 6200 (I have not tried playing back MPEG4 HD on the server)

Client Device: HD100 - 5/19 firmware

Things that Do NOT work, or required work-arounds:
- Hauppauge IR Blaster - Hauppauge software states IR blaster not found. I use a USB-UIRT to tune my satellite receiver, so I'm using that for the HD-PVR as well.
- USB-UIRT - Refused to let me configure a new IR file with the HD-PVR device. I can't remember the exact error, but it kept saying press enter and try again. Workaround: I removed one of my other analog sources, re-added it, created a new IR file with the cable box remote... worked. Re-added the HD-PVR and used the new IR file created just moments before with the analog device. Re-added the Analog device correctly.

My steps to installing the HD-PVR:
- Hooked up device / powered on
- New Hardware wizard appeared, pointed it to the Drivers folder off the CD
- Installed IRBLASTER.MSI (or EXE can't remember)
- I did *not* install any other Hauppauge software.... for fear it would break something :P :P

I haven't figured out how to determine or change the recording quality yet - that's my next step. Also, I have a laptop using PowerDVD 7.3 that was able to play the original Hauppauge clip with the snow and mountains theough PowerDVD, but Sage seems to choke after about 1-2 seconds of video, and all video freezes. This was over both wired and wireless connections. More fun to work through tonight :P

So, my suggestion would be to try to reinstall DirectX 9.0c and apply Windows 2003 SP2.... I don't know if it would *help*, but it seems to work fine for me out-of-the-box, except for the IR blaster, which I can deal with for now.

Now, to watch the Red Sox in full HD through Sage... I've been dreaming of this day (Watch them lose )

Thank you for your reply. I am in the process of upgrading to sp2 right now. I am glad that it worked for you.

If it works for me with SP2, then I would say that it might be required for this unit to work with Server 2003. I will let everyone now how it works out once I get SP2 loaded.

I have been able to resolve my issue with the HD-PVR on my Windows 2003 box. I am not sure which steps resolved the issue, so I will list all of the things I did in order.

1. Upgraded to SP1
2. Upgraded to SP2
3. Installed Audio drivers -> Had no previous reason for audio since the machine is not used as a client.
4. Ran System File Verification Tool
5. Ran HcwClear program
6. Installed Drivers for HD-PVR and PVR-250
7. Installed IR Blaster software
8. Configure IR Blaster
9. Setup HD-PVR in Sage using a copy of the HDHomeRun EPG.

Everything seems to be working well, except the HD-PVR seems to stop capturing after about 5-10 minutes into a capture of a channel. It then stops responding to channel change requests, and capture request. I have to turn off HD-PVR and restart Sage Service. I am hoping this is driver or Sage related, and will be resolved with future updates to the software.

Strange. Mine just continues working..... as a matter of fact, it seems to be the primary tuner now and is recording everything. Does the same thing happen when using the Hauppauge software instead of Sage? That could be an issue with the device, perhaps.
