what can I do with SageTV Studio??
I still do not know exactly what I can do with SageTV Studio.
I am trying to assign different users to different folder to different tuners. Or different recording schedules. Share some recordings and some not??? Thanks, Ray |

What you can do with it depends on your level of programming skill. In the hands of an expert it can be used for anything from minor tweaks to building a whole new UI from the ground up. (SageMC is an example of this.)
From Studio you have access to the Java runtime as well as the SageTV API. The API gives you control over the SageTV recording engine, media database, and playback functions. Anything the UI does with recordings or media files ultimately comes down to an API call or series of calls. If you're not a programmer or are otherwise unable to make sense of the concepts in the Studio manual and API docs, then you're probably not going make much headway with Studio. If you do have some programming skill, then the best thing is to read through the documentation, work the tutorials, and study the stock STV to see how things are done and get a better idea of what you can hope to accomplish.

Thanks,
I have been doing assembly programming since 1970 but only play with C++, VB and Java. So I have a long way to go. Just looking to see if it is in the direction I need to go. Thanks, Ray |
