6.4.4 Broke my HDHomerun
I just upgraded from 6.4.2 to 6.4.4 this morning. I set a recording for the U.S. Open this afternoon, and just tried to start watching about a half hour ago. I had a 0 byte recording. I tried stopping and restarting Sage, the HDHomerun, upgrading the firmware and software for the HDHomerun and nothing worked. No matter how I tried to get it working, live TV, via a recording, through the view option in source setup, all I got was the no signal message and 0 byte recordings. I then downgraded back to 6.4.2 and found that my HDHomerun was working properly again. Looks like there's some bugs in 6.4.4 with HDHomerun compatibility. Incidentally, with 6.4.4, Sage was changing the channels correctly on the HDHomerun it just wasn't getting any data from it.

I just checked my setup again. My HDHR is working fine with 6.4.4.

I think part of the problem may have been some storms in the area yesterday. There were a lot of drop-outs in the signal. Even with 6.4.2, I couldn't back up in the file. I could only watch live. My guess is 6.4.4 isn't as fault tolerant as 6.4.2 was. My NBC channel seems to be working fine this morning, so 6.4.4 may work fine too. I'm going to wait until tomorrow before playing around with it any more though. I don't want to mess anything up before the final round.
Thanks for checking on your set up! |

My HDHomerun appears to not work properly with the 6.4.4 beta. For now, I just removed it from the source list, and I'm only using my HD-PVRs. When I try to access a channel on the HD-PVR, I get "no signal", but when I use VLC and the HDHomerun software, it works perfect on the 8 HD QAM channels I get. I have never had issue until today...
EDIT: Rolling back to 6.4.3 fixed my HDHomerun.

Same thing happening to me.

You're not alone. The same thing happened to me. Restarting Sage, rebooting and upgrading HDHR to the latest firmware had no effect. I filed a bug report. Thanks for the comment on rolling back to 6.4.3. That worked for me too.

What HDHR drivers is everyone using. My HDHR has been working flawlessly with 6.4.4. Of course, it's off season now so there hasn't been much to record.
I'm using the latest released drivers, 20080430. I month or so ago I was having an issue with my HDHR where things just all of a sudden stopped working correctly. It eventually turned out to be a bad power supply. My problem manifested itself as an inability to use both tuners at the same time. From a cold start I could use one or the other of the tuners but if I tried to use both tuners neither one could tune in a signal. I put in a support request about it and the very next day I came home from work and the light on the power supply was flashing. This was a Monday. I got a new power supply from them the following Monday. Just as a precaution I also ordered a compatible power supply from Digikey. I ended up getting it earlier and I've decided to use it and keep the replacement as a backup. I dislike the orientation of the original HDHR power supply and prefer the one I bought from Digikey. But again, I don't have any problems with my HDHR. Been working great with 6.4.4.

I am also using the 20080430 driver, and have been since right after it came out. I had no issue with it under 6.4.3, but just upgrading to 6.4.4 was enough to make it stop working. I rebooted, power cycled the HDHR, and nothing made it work. Bumped it down to 6.4.3, and it just worked again. I have an original design HDHR, I know in the firmware changelog for the HDHR it mentions a version that addresses an issue with the new batch, but I have not had issue with mine since I got it in November.

When I first detected the issue, I was not on the latest HDHR firmware version. I tried upgrading, thinking that I might solve the problem that way. Didn't help.
I am making progress on my bug report. They asked me to reinstall 6.4.4 and generate logs. I did what they told me. It took me about 45 seconds to recreate the problem, after 6.4.4 came back up. I then shut everything down, captured the logs and sent them off to Sage. I then reinstalled 6.4.3.

Do any of you that are having problems with 6.4.4 have *.scn files for the HDHR in the Sage directory? I am another user having no issues with the HDHR and 6.4.4. I suspect that since the *.scn files are new that Sage may now be expecting them. They are created by the HDHR software when you scan for channels.

I have the SCN files in my directory, as well as FRQ and PAR files for each tuner. Maybe the PAR files aren't needed anymore? I had put them in when I was trying to avoid the 5 minutes missing on HDHR recordings, but it's supposedly fixed in the more recent versions.... not sure

The *.par files are not a requirement but they are still used if created. They allow you to increase the delay time if needed. I do use them because I have 3 HDHRs and the default delay time is not long enough for my system. The *.scn files are interesting because they are generated by the HDHR software. I thought the *.scn files were already used used by Sage. I recall I had a problem when I added my most recent HDHR because the *.scn files did not exists for the new HDHR. They were created when I ran the channel scan with the HDHR software. But in another thread today someone said the *.scn were not currently used. I just though it might have something to do with this problem since only some people have a problem. The *.frq files have been around for ages.

That's why I use a UPS with my computers and tv's. A storm went through Roanoke a few weeks ago that produced a tornado about 2 miles from my house. I was watching a recording through Sage at the time and never even realized the weather had gotten that bad. The lights flickered a few times, but the TV and Sage just kept on purring.

I am having problems with my HDHR on 6.4.4 as well. I was able to tune a few digital channels at first, but about 90% or more reported "No Signal". The HDHR plays fine through the VLC interface.
I'm going to submit a bug report. |

Same here with 6.4.4. I detect only the first channel in the scan. All remaining channels don't get detected.

I'm having a similar problem with my ViXS PureTV-U 48B0 video card with 6.4.4 (it can't tune in any digital OTA channels, but it worked fine with 6.3). Where can I download the 6.4.3 version to try that one?

I too had some trouble with my HDHR's when I went from 6.4.2 to 6.4.4.
I was getting a lot of no signals, and some stations seemed to be recording the wrong stations. (I'm using digital cable into the HDHR, so I'm usiing QAM) I went on Silicon Dust's website and downloaded the latest version of the "HDHomeRun SageTv Instructions - Digital Cable" docs. To me it seems counter-intuitive and where I was going wrong, but you have to choose "Use Tuner on Capture card to tune ANTENNA/BROADCAST". After fixing that, and then making sure all my available channels were remapped properly my HDHR has been humming along just fine for weeks. I'm not sure if that's what you folks are getting too, but it seemed to be different than my old setup because I was using the same property and Wiz.bin from my 6.4.3 setup which had been working fine.

That may be the fix for HDHR/Digital Cable.
But in my situation it's something different. I submitted a bug report and Sage replied: "Thanks for the feedback; we're aware of this issue on Vista and are working on a fix for it." So my particular issue with tuning HD channels may be because I'm using Vista, so I'm waiting for the next beta update release for a fix. |
