Question Networking and SageTV

I've downloaded the trial version but not installed it yet. I have a question regarding networking. I would like to install SageTV on a server in a small home network and be able to watch recorded programs from another computer. I'm doing this now just by sharing the directory the files are in and using PowerDVD. Can SageTV be installed on another computer that doesn't have the actual Hauppauge 250 board installed but still be able to control SageTV functions ie: setup recordings and have the EPG, get a list of recorded programs and details about the recordings, and last but not least play back the recordings using SageTV.

The answer to your question is not yet. We are currently beta testing a networked version of SageTV that will do everything you mentioned above and more.

In the meantime I would recommend using SageRecorder to playback files recorded by SageTV on another PC. You will then have all the playback options that SageTV provides as well.

If you set up your capture card on a machine running Windows XP, you can use Terminal Services Client or Remote Computer Connection to get onto that machine and set up all the recordings and so forth-- I do this from work all the time. I've had limited success with actually watching video over the network, but the audio works ok
