Newb rogers / tv tuner card question

Hey there,

I have my sage with 2 extenders running great for my media collection, now it's time to get the pvr going.

I have read and read and am still confused, what tv tuner is best to use with rogers.

I don't want to go the stb to the card route as I am trying to rid myself of my rogers stbs, I have a standard pvr and an HD pvr.

I am not concerned with recording HD material as I can just download the show in hd and store on my server, should I be saying this?

I am more concerned with the digital channels.

I have a hauppauge wintv pvr 500 which I know is analogue. I don't even know if rogers has analogue channels.

So can I have a digital tv tuner card without a stb on rogers? To make things more confusing I want dual cards.

Cheers

You can only get a couple digital channels without a Rogers box. You will need to use a box.

I suggest getting a standard HD box from Rogers, DCT 4250, and using the new Hauppauge HD-PVR with it and setup Firewire channel changing. This works very well for me, and can be expanded to include more than one box if needed.

do you mean I can add a second Hauppage box or second rogers box?

I really need to be able to watch 2 channels and record a 3rd at the same time like i can with the 500 card

Well you can use the PVR500, but that will only get you channels 2 - 70 or so.

Thanks for your help.

I am going the analoug route with the pvr500 for now.

Going to get rid of the wifes standard pvr and keep my hd pvr for a while.

I think I will wait until we can get the digital Hi Def without needing rogers box, or something like that. I am just not sure about this current solution.

Anyway
Cheers
