SHS:
I got the same feeling as well that this is only for new releases that are currently in the theater. The question is whether this is a slippery slope to where all channels will become premium and block, or whether this is a way to innovate and get the ability to see releases in the theater in the home now. Unfortunately, as much as I would like to see theater releases in my home, I don't trust them. For that reason, I think its a slippery slope. I am not sure if this is a TOS violation, but as soon as the link is made available to send FCC our comments, we should send in our comments.

It looks like the official comments period has ended, but that doesn't mean it's not worth letting your elected officials know or contacting the FCC directly. Here's a link to the FCC policy division that handles things like the SOC, complete with names and a phone number: http://www.fcc.gov/mb/policy/
(note: I'm not sure what the TOS for the boards has to say about this, but since if this passes it would **force** all of us to stop using Sage with the HD PVR and effectively break all of our gear, I'm hoping that the moderators will be OK with this. If not, just remove the offending sections.) Here are some more links for background: EFF position http://www.eff.org/deeplinks/2008/07...control-fcc-pe More from Cory, with a short video to explain why this is bad to your friends http://www.boingboing.net/2008/07/31...ledges-se.html Public Knowledge statement http://www.publicknowledge.org/node/1625 Now if only I could just get the HD PVR to work right, I'd be all set...
