wall mount rear projection LCD HDTV?
I recently bought a 42" Sony rear projection LCD, but its a little too big for the space I have so I'd really like to get it off the stand.
Is this possible? Ive done some searching online and in person and have only seen some kits/mounts for smaller sizes. Ideally, I'd like to fit it into the corner of the room as well, but thats not a deal breaker. Thanks for the education, Cory |

You didn't give a model # so it's difficult to imagine what you're working with.
Some sets have a mounting plate(s) on the back to assist with wall mounting brackets. This would be detailed in your users manual (available online if you know the specific model #). Even if the TV doesn't have support for a mounting bracket you could go with a shelf bracket attached to the wall that's designed to support the weight, and get it safety strapped to prevent acts-of-god tipping. Start with the user manual. |

Hey conejo
I dont *see* anything that looks like mounting plates, but there are lots of deep indentations and a spot for a safety strap. The model is Sony KF-42WE620 I've gone through the whole manual and there isnt anything about mounting at all in it anywhere that I can find so far. thanks for any suggestions, Cory |

Sony Wega KF42WE620
The pic is from a website about cleaning the dust from your optics. The plastic case design says it all, this is a SHELF ONLY product. Still, nothing saying the shelf can't be mounted. |

Thanks conejo. Should I be looking for a shelf kit made particularily to mount a TV, or am I simply looking for a shelf I figure to be able to hold the weight?
thanks, Cory |

There are two issues: Shelf Stability and Cost
You know your TV. You know where you want to put it. The weight can be held either from the floor or by the wall. You just need to make sure that the shelf is secure, can take any accidental additional weight and that a safety strap keeps the set from tipping. Companies make shelf mounts that tie into the wall studs or hang from ceiling joists. If the height is over three feet I'd suggest going with an industrial mount. Three feet or under I'd probably build a fixed heavy duty shelf tied into the wall studs or supported from the floor. |

Thanks for the education. I did some searching around and I did find some mounts that say they *could* be used for a rear projection, but they are really made for CRT's. I'll keep looking though, thanks for pointing me in the right direction.
