Haup PVR 250 for $99

http://www.compusa.com/products/prod...id=dsr&ref=dsr

Since SageTV is out of stock until 2/16, I've been shopping. I found this special at CompUSA, but am afraid to buy it in case of the black remote instead of the silver. Anybody know if this is a silver & rev 16, or know a way to tell from looking at the box?

Any help / recommendations appreicated. Thanks!

If the description is accurate "WinTV-PVR-250 uses a new integrated MPEG1/MPEG2 encoder, the Conexant -016", it would be a type 16 with the Conexant -016 chip. I would expect the remote would be the silver one. I think the original black remote was included only with very old cards.
I am sure the store would let you open a box ( if they do not already have one open) to see the remote and look for a heatsink on the card. Heatsink would make it a type 15, absence of heatsink is type 16.

Spotted this deal this morning and already got it (used pickup instead of delivery), had the silver remote and no heatsink on anywhere on the board.

I twisted my ankle, so have been cooped up for the last 24 hours. I decided to have my spouse buy it while out earlier today, and I'd debate whether it was the right one once it was in my hands. Thanks for the post, thatdude, because it gave me the go-ahead to open it.

Silver remote, no heatsink here either. However, it's a revision 32032 board and NOT the 32031 version that Frey sells. Is this a problem? I saw this post on the Frey forums, with no response...

Is this board a problem long term? I planned on buying another 250 board from Frey (w/ the s/w bundle), and the last thing I want is a conflict...

Any info appreciated. Thanks all!

I have 4 different versions of the PVR 250 with no problem. The only conflicts I have heard of are having a PVR 250 and PVR 350 in the same system.
