Mapping QAM Channels
From the Sage TV PDF: 'When remapping a digital channel, in many cases the physical channel remapping can simply be set to the channel index number for the desired channel. This number matches the “ch:index” field, or the first number on a line in the .frq file, and is valid for ATSC, QAM, DVB-C, DVB-S,
and DVB-T. " What does this mean? Anyways, this is my scan, along with the channels I want to map to. I've tried remaping logical and physical channels, but that just gives me two channels, one channel with a signal, and one channel with data... not good. SCAN # MAP TO CALL SIGN TYPE 2-1 402 KCBS HD 4-1 404 KNBC HD 5-1 405 KTLA HD 7-1 407 KABC HD 9-1 409 KCAL HD 10-4 62 COMEDY SD 11-1 411 KTTV HD 28-1 412 KCET HD 34-5 14 QVC SD 34-12 WGN SD 43-4 46 TBS SD 43-5 563 TCM SD 50-1 408 KOCE HD 68-1 75 TVLAND SD 68-11 81 HSN SD 79-1 7 KABC SD 79-2 27 KAZA SD 79-3 6 KCET SD 79-4 13 KCOP SD 79-5 18 KSCI SD 79-6 11 KTTV SD 79-7 12 KMEX SD 79-8 22 KWHY SD 79-9 5 KTLA SD 79-10 24 KRCA SD 79-11 26 KFTR SD 79-12 19 KXLA SD 80-1 2 KCBS SD 80-2 9 KCAL SD 80-3 4 KNBC SD 80-4 30 KPXN SD 80-5 17 KTBN SD 80-6 28 KJLA SD 80-7 3 KLCS SD 80-8 29 KDOC SD 80-9 21 KVEA SD 80-10 8 KOCE SD 80-11 32 KHIZ SD 81-3 450 USA HD 85-1 HD 87-1 419 UNIVERSAL HD 89-2 451 CNBC HD 91-1 219 HEALTH SD 92-13 273 FOX SPORT ESP SD 93-11 57 STYLE SD 93-12 71 A&E SD 94-11 39 ESPN SD 96-49 PPV PREV SD 101-1 73 VH1 SD 101-4 202 CSPAN2 SD 103-1 118 MTV2 SD 103-3 78 GOLF SD 103-5 228 KABC-DT3 SD 104-1 226 KNBC-DT4 SD 104-4 201 CSPAN SD 104-5 225 KNBC-DT2 SD 105-9 MUN2 SD 105-10 40 ESPN2 SD 105-12 54 HGTV SD 106-8 65 DISNEY SD 107-8 55 FOOD SD 117-7 PROMO SD 116-10 PROMO SD 118-1 25 PEG SD 118-2 98 PUBACC SD 118-3 99 LEASED SD 118-4 35 LACITY SD 118-5 36 LACITY SD 118-6 16 TVGN SD 118-7 50 WEATHER SD 119-8 186 DISNEY DT 120-1 77 AMC SD 120-8 216 ANIMALP SD 122-1 227 KABS-DT2 SD 122-2 336 KCET VME SD 122-7 20 KBEH SD 122-8 23 KVMD SD |

CH:18 major:0 minor:2 prog:21 phy:92 frq:631250000 mod:11 inv:0 #: DTV92.2 In this instance, you can set your Physical Remap to 18 (the CH:Index, the eighteenth channel in the list); or,Either will cause SageTV to set the tuner to 631250000hz, Program 21, modulation=256QAM This stuff isn't really important unless you want to add a channel that a SCAN doesn't detect. You would then hand-edit the .frq (or .scn pre-scan) file to add the tuning data to the lookup table and use REMAP to give SageTV way to look it up. |

What type of Tuner are you using?
Have you used the SCAN function in SageTV? If you have successfully added tunable channels into the SageTV Channel Setup then highlight the tunable channel and select "Map Different Station to this Physical Channel" >> then locate the correct Station Call Sign. This will merge the two elements. Last edited by Conejo; 08-10-2008 at 08:33 PM. |

It's a HVR 1600. Yeah, I got the tunable channels, and i got the guide, but niether is gonna do me any good with out proper guide data. I've tried what you say above, it doesn't work... well doesn't do it right anyways. It merges the channels, but the channel numbers are all wrong. For example, KCBS-DT scans as 2-1, but the TimeWarners guide designation is 402. I select 2-1 and "Map Different Station to this Physical Channel" then select 402 from the pop up... pull up the guide and it calls the station 2-1 _WRONG!!!!_ and all the guide channels above 125 disappear The instructions are obviously not clear. I see two things, a channel I can tune, and a channel number with guide data... what is logical and what is physical and what matches to what? Also, SageTV keeps crashing on new OS install.... what's up with that? |

Logical Channel = EPG Lineup channel (think remote control)
Physical Channel = Tuning; examples: 7002 Satellite, 2 cable tv, 2.1 or 2-1 or 2-1008-1 for digital tuners The SCAN Feature: If SageTV can't match the newly detected channels with a STATION CALL SIGN then it will probably add then as additional channels. You can then use the REMAP functions to match/merge then then change the LOGICAL Channel to your liking. So in your case you need to perform one more step and use the REMAP LOGICAL to apply the correct channel number you want to use. By the way, SageTV won't use the Logical Channel, it uses the STATION CALL SIGN for all scheduling tasks. |
