Note on System Requirements

I am faithfully taking advantage of the "ask away" request:

I have successfully loaded the software, and it works great...I am wondering though... Does your software REQUIRE the Wintv2000 application be installed (as WinTVCap does) in order to access the stream, or do you interact directly with the chipset on my Hauppauge card?

If not, do I still have to load the Hauppauge driver if I plan to exclusively use your recorder?

This is important to me, so that I can do a clean install once I fully play with my new software.

We haven't done extensive testing on what you actually need installed from Hauppauge for SageRecorder/SageTV to work. You should only need the drivers installed and not the WinTV application; but I'm not sure about this. Sage doesn't use anything outside of the driver; but I'm not sure if Hauppauge has some dependence to make the driver function correctly.

You'll also need an MPEG2 software decoder installed. You can use the Intervideo ones that come with the Hauppauge cards; or use any other major one. We support all the major ones; and Sage can easily be configured to support ones that it doesn't already.

I have the Hauppauge PVR-250 and did install the WinTV2000 application to get to the Color Calibration contols which are not available directly in SageTV. I guess I could un-install the WinTV2000 app after getting the colors just right but I haven't done that to see if SageTV still operates...

Ed,

Are the controls you're looking for the ones available within Detailed Setup > Multimedia > Video Capture Settings (Advanced)?

They are indeed - way to go! Don't know how I missed these... I definately need to adjust the Brightness/Contrast/Hue/Saturation (and, one more I didn't see in WinTV2000, Sharpness) and these can be found on the "...(Advanced)" panel that comes up under the "Video Pro..." tab.

One comment: When I bring up the "...(Advanced)" panel, it fllashes and then is quickly moved to the back This is in SageTV, actually, so the behavior may be unique there. I need to Alt-Tab to bring it to the front again to get focus on the panel". Maybe not what you intended?
