What is the state of the art in automatic commercial removal?
I have seen many threads from 2006 and back about automatically removing commercials with ShowAnalyzer and comskip. I was wondering what solutions people use today? Which is better today: ShowAnalyzer, comskip, or something else?
Your help is most appreciated!

I use Comskip currently. I'm getting ready to try out ShowAnalyzer just to give it a try and to try out it's h.264 commercial detection (for my HD-PVR).

Assuming you're running Windows any of the above will work. Erik, author of comskip, is currently integrating AVC-HD support (HD-PVR) into the tool now.
On Linux, forum user trueno is working on a port of MythTVs commercial detection tool as well. I am using Wine and Comskip for now. If you're on a Mac, the only SageTV solution I am aware of is my ComChecker utility which is an ugly face on top of Comskip and Wine. B
