comskip is working fine for me with mpegs but not H264 files. Is that because I am not a donater yet?
I was looking to donate today but wanted to make sure that was my issue.. |

adjust effect of comskip markings
Chiming in that at this point I get very few crashes.
On a seperate note, Comskip is installed and processes everything pretty well. However, occasionally (often enough to be annoying) comskip marks in my edl files trigger a comskip a second or so early and come back to the show a second or so late. I'd rather see one or two seconds of the start of the first commercial during a break and one or two seconds of the end of the commercial at the end of the break rather then wonder if i've missed 1 second (or none) or 5 or 10 seconds of my show. Seeing a second of the commercial takes away all doubt. So, is there any way in to change the way comskip sets up its edl file? I'm asking this same question in the SageMC forum to see if there's a sage side tweak I can make. Thanks very much.

Correct. Only the 80 series builds in the "members" area feature h.264 processing. Well worth the donation.

Great.
Thanks What's the right syntax and method for delaying the beginning of a commerscial skip mark by 2 seconds and ending it 2 seconds early. I assume I need to use this ;;When you always want to see the start and end of the commercial break this can be used. remove_before=0 remove_after=0 but do I make each of those zereos a 2? And I assume this only works for edl files created after I make that change?

Right click -> copy and name it something like comskip.ini.backup Then, do exactly as you have listed. Code:
remove_before=2 remove_after=2 This will take effect with all files processed after the change. |

This is not how it should be done.
please read the comskip.txt file where (almost) all the parameters are describes The description is AFTER the parameter. padding=0 (0-MAXINT) ;Amount of seconds each commercial will be reduced both as start and end. ;;When you always want to see the start and end of the commercial break this can be used.

A user reported that Comskip is crashing on his AMD sempron, but running fine on the same files on his Celeron.
Any particular processors beging used on systems that crash comskip?

Thanks Eric
I read that and it sort of looks to me like it would adjust each commercial during a break, which I don't want. (don't want to have to see a piece of multiple commercials during each break.) So, with one padding setting does that "pad" the beginning and ending of a whole commercial break?? So, what syntax should I use if I want to see 1st second of the 1st commercial during a break and last second of of the last commercial during a break? padding=1 ?? And I think because of the groupings, spacings and descriptive text in this section padding=0 (0-MAXINT) ;Amount of seconds each commercial will be reduced both as start and end. ;;When you always want to see the start and end of the commercial break this can be used. remove_before=0 remove_after=0 added_recording=14 (0-MAXINT) ;Amount of minutes that a recording is longer then the actual show + closing commercial (if any) It looks like it's grouped this way item 1 padding=0 (0-MAXINT) ;Amount of seconds each commercial will be reduced both as start and end. item 2 ;;When you always want to see the start and end of the commercial break this can be used. remove_before=0 remove_after=0 Item 3 added_recording=14 (0-MAXINT) ;Amount of minutes that a recording is longer then the actual show + closing commercial (if any) Thanks very much for the great program and all your work. I'm using a quad core Athlon just fine. Had some crashing issues a while ago, but not with the last couple of version.

Its not each commercial, but each commercial break so exactly the behavior you want.
I do need to add the text for (not before) remove_after and remove_before

Good news, I can reproduce a crash.
Its again an invalid pointer in the h.264 decoder so the result is processor/OS dependent. Can not recover easily as it is in one of the parallel processing threads. But I am getting closer.

erik,
That is good news (in that you now know where to focus your attention to fix this problem). Good news for all of us where this pointer issue causes crashes. We will all be waiting patiently (or as patiently as we can). |

erik,
Well, one of the files that was not working before just completed just fine!!!! I'm updating the DIRMON to process all TS files again, but it looks like what ever you did has been successful (at least for me). |
