STV: Cayars17 Ultimate STV (Release 17 - Jan 18)
1/28/05 - DVD Tools (DVDBurner) Release 1.1 Upgrade can be downloaded from HERE.
1/28/05 - External Commercial Detection Manager Test Version D can be downloaded from HERE. Information can be found in message 2854. This isn't needed if you download Cayars18D below. Test18E has a newer version of CDM. 1/28/05 - Cayars Ultimate STV Version 18 E Release information can be found in message 3176. Download link is here. QManager is currently nearing completion and will manage commercial detection, commercial cutting, compression/transcoding and other external processes in a single or multi-computer environment. (distributed processing) Compression/Transcoding Engine is currently about 50% completed and progress is moving along quite nicely on it. Looking for the ultimate STV? This is a "power users" STV! It is built for Version 2.1 (and later versions) of SageTV. This STV features "Out-of-the-Box" integration of DVD Burning, DVD Ripping, Local Weather, Weather Suite, Commercial Detection and many, many additional features. Some parts of this STV are derived from works created by Nielm, MlbDude, Malore, Salbst & Opus4. Many thanks go out to these guys! Release 1 (Version A)
Release 2-13
Release 14
Release 15
Release 16
Release 17
Also added Detailed Setup Configurations for the following Sage properties:
Release 18 Test
1) Check you working directories to make sure they DO NOT have any spaces in them. Suggested/default paths are now "C:\DVDTemp" and "D:\DVDTemp". 2) NEVER EVER set the working directories to paths used for anything else as the first thing the DVDBurner does is DELETE all files in the "working directory". NET Framework 1.1 is required. If you don't have this you can d/l it HERE. NOTES FOR COMMERCIAL DETECTION: 1) To use the external commercial detection you will want/need to DISABLE the "Internal Background Commerial Processing" which is the old style comskip done via the STV itself. 2) Edit the config file (CommercialDetectManager.cfg) to match your system. 3) Manually run CDRun.bat to start Commercial Detection or create a shortcut to this file in your startup folder so it will automatically start when a user is logged on. NET Framework 1.1 is required. If you don't have this you can d/l it HERE. ***This is an early release test version of the Commercial Detection Manager. The final release version will run as a service on your machine and will be able to read your library files directly from the sage property files. These two features were left out for testing purposes. TEST VERSIONS ARE ONLY AVAILABLE TO VIP MEMBERS. SEE HERE <link temporarly removed> FOR ADDITIONAL INFORMATION. DOWNLOAD FILES NET Framework 1.1 is required for DVDTools and CDM. If you don't have this you can d/l it HERE or use Windows Update. You will need to download 3 files: Extract JavaR2.zip into your Java library extensions directory (i.e. C:\Program Files\Java\j2re1.4.2_05\lib\ext) Extract CoreFilesR2.zip into your main SageTV directory. Please make sure nested folders get extracted correctly. Extract Cayars17.zip into your main SageTV directory. Please make sure nested folders get extracted correctly. THINGS YOU MUST MANUALY ADJUST Open the DVDrip.bat file and edit it to use your DVD drive letter and set it to a drive/folder location specific to your system. Open the WeatherConfig.XML file in your main SageTV directory and edit the "locations" section. You should be able to change the entry for "Franklinville, NJ" to your own city. Just change the name and ZIPCODE. TO ENABLE CLOSED CAPTION SUPPORT You must be using a Hauppauge PVR250/350 card(the Roslyns, blackbird & PVR-USB2 cards do not work). You must be using a driver version(I believe 1.7 and up) that supports imbedding CC into the recording. You must have enabled the CCinDVD registry key. For driver versions below 1.18.016.22092 you can use this reg file . For driver versions after 1.18.016.22092, see this site for directions on adding the correct setting to your registry. You have to reboot your computer the first time you enable the CCinDVD key for it to take effect. The recording quality used must be a DVD style profile and of course the show must actually have CC. ONLY NEEDED IF YOU EXPERIENCE PROBLEMS WITH WEATHER: Open your Sage.Properties AND SageClient.Properties and adjust the following sections to match those below. Change the zipcode to match your zipcode. As an option you can removed these sections and the STV will create them for you the first time you enter Local Weather. If you allow it to create the entries on it's own, you might have to exit SageTV one time for the Local Weather to read the entries back in (bug). mlbdude/right_image_root=\\STVs\\OriginalV2\\Weather mlbdude/weather_exe=\\STVs\\OriginalV2\\weather\\GetWeatherJava.exe mlbdude/weather_exe_java=false mlbdude/weather_file=\\STVs\\OriginalV2\\weather\\Weather.txt mlbdude/weather_image_root=\\STVs\\OriginalV2\\weather\\images mlbdude/weather_provider=www.weatherroom.com mlbdude/weather_url=http\://www.weatherroom.com/xml/ext/ mlbdude/weather_zip=08322 NOTE: please make sure there are no spaces in the above weather settings. There are no spaces when I'm typing this but for some reason they show up in the message when viewing it. Screen Images I still have not added any of mlbdude's enhanced OSD/mini-guide routines. I'm going to take a look at them next. You will see options for these in the Detailed Setup already as I do have plans to incorporate them or something very close! The stock menu.xml file provided will give you the following system look: The Menu Menu with background1024C.jpg Guides Menu with background2.jpg Live TV Guides with background6.jpg This pictures shows the ICON BAR. The icons are: RECording, 1st Run, Commercial Skip (processed), Closed Captioning, Favorite (if it has a lock on it then AutoDelete is set to NO), Watched, Don't Like, IR, Manual Record, Archived. Media Library Menu with background12.jpg TV Recording with default background file. This screen shows you "normal" recordings and also recordings you have archived. This screen also shows you another copy of the Icon Bar. Also take note of the icons on the show descriptions themselves. You can see one show is recoding and it's a 1st run. Also two shows are "A" archived and there is a folder with archived shows in it also. A few additional notes:
In order to use COMPRESS, COMSKIP, NEWSFEEDS or the WEATHER SUITE functionalities you will need to set up your environment correctly. These setups have been covered in other threads so I won't cover them here (at this time). Please make sure you go into the additional Detailed Setup menus (Enhancements 1, Enhancements 2, Commercial Skip) to set the options needed for your environment. As previously mentioned, the menus and submenus are completely customizable. If you don't like the layout I did, CHANGE IT! If you don't need or want the "Back" buttons on your menus you can remove them, etc... The menus will auto-size themselves based on screen real-estate. The "Upcoming Recordings" and "Video Disk Space" sections (bottom left and right) can be removed from any of the menus by simply removing these two sections from the menu.xml file: <option>showrecschedwidget</option> <option>showdiskspacewidget</option> showrecschedwidget = Upcoming Recordings showdiskspacewidget = Video Disk Space I have them enabled on each and every menu. It would be trivial to remove them from everything but the main menu for example. Each menu item is composed of (normally) four lines. An example: <internalScreenMenuItem title="Video Library (Imported)" icon="STVs\OriginalV2\cayars/library.png" screen="Video Library"/> The TITLE is what will show up on your screen as a menu choice. So if you wanted to change the verbage back to "Imported Videos" this is the line you would change. The ICON line is just what it sound like. This points to the graphic that appears on screen for this menu choice. If you don't want to use a graphic for a particular menu item you can safely remove the whole icon line. The SCREEN line points to the internal function/page in the STV. Unless you have Studio you can't change this functionality. Carlo |

Abasu2003,
I honestly don't know if it will work in 2.0 or not. It has specific 2.1 features in it so I know parts will not work correctly. My guess would be not to try it with 2.0 unless you have everything backed up. If you're still on 2.0 you might want to just run Nielm's STV as it's the closest to this one in 2.0 land. Carlo |

A couple of quick questions:
A couple of my recordings, I can't turn of CC. I don't know if this is due to your STV or that I just installed 2.1, but they won't go away. When I go to the on screen menu while watching the show, and I hit CC enable/disable it enables/disables a different set of captions. But the really big, nice looking ones are always tehre. Any ideas? Those recordings are old. Also, I notice you dont' have Mlbdude Style Recording Section. I can still access this with the dynamic menu right? EDIT: I just realized, are there new definitions of dynamic menus updated for 2.1 or can we still use http://www.sage-community.org/~nielm...v/screens.html ? The good news, though, is that at least all 3 are showing the same results...

Try one of the other STVs and see if CC works correctly. This will help determine if the issue is 2.1 related or my STV.

The reason his previous list isn't going to be 100% correct for this STV is the fact that I reworked a bunch of internal Sub-Menus and such and renamed them to "<name> by Cayars" or something similar so that I could easily track what I've changed. As far as all the items already on the menus you can just look at the MENU.XML file in notepad and look up specifically what is being called for those items. Enhanced OSD: I'm confused about this, did you not incorporate the mini-OSD? Eitherway, its not there. There is an OSD that shows show information but the up/down arrows don't show show information for up/down channels
Mlbdude's Recording Screen: This is a 2 pane horizontal recording screen that looks almost identical to Malore's. However, malore's ahs a problem messing up if you try to view it while watching live TV (at least with my video rendered settings). The menu can't handle it. The nielm STV screen name is "SageRecordings w/ Optional Preview & AutoCategories Two Pane Hor CSM." Here is a picture of it from Mlbdude's website: http://download.sage.tv/~mlbdude/ima...de2/sr_hor.JPG CC: I did what you said and it turns out, CC is always on independant of STV. Can someone help me with this? I'll start a thread in Beta Testing just to make sure. Its nice to have CC's that look so good but i want to be abel to control them. |

-"Upcoming Favorites by Malore" Screen doesn't work. At least for me, it just shows up blank with an outline of a box and the title and thats it.
-I'm not sure what's going on with your "Multimenu by malore modified by Cayars" but it just shows a lot of stuff that I'm not recording. Also, all of it seems to be between 10 and 12 p.m. with the same listing duplicated in many cases. I couldn't really edit the settings for this. EDIT: Thanks for the quick replies. I hope I am being helpful. I really like your STV and I'm not just ripping it apart. Sometimes, its hard to tell |

basically everything that was part of mlbdude's enhanced OSD
is not working at all and the mini guide was part of the enhanced OSD as I remember it in fact still using it |

Then all the mlbdude stuff makes sence why it's not working since it's not supported yet. I probably should have noted you'll see Detail Setup for some items that aren't supported yet. The setup portion of these mods are basically done, now I'm adding the hooks and code to support the mods.
Here's the current To Do list so far: Semi-transparent OSD as featured in Nielm's STV Mlbdude Style Recording Section Enhanced OSD from MlbDude Mini-Guide from mlbdude Create shortcuts for "Search for Programs" on Record menus for use in dynamic menus Create shortcuts for "Setup Menus" items for use in dynamic menus Nielm's Custom Command hooks in Details menu Last edited by Cayars; 10-26-2004 at 05:30 AM. |
