Proposed SageTV setup - WHS, Media MVP
I have a self-built Windows Home Server (WHS) box. I'm considering putting a PVR 150 that I already own in it, buying SageTv for WHS, and then I need some way to get content from my WHS box to my standard def TV. Yes, I'm sticking with standard def for a while because of the increased monthly fees that HDTV would bring me.
I'm confused by the SageTV choices for the Media MVP. I would like my standard def client to be affordable ($150 for MVP Wireless) and to be a full SageTV client so that I don't have to browse Windows files on my server. Is it a good plan to get Sage TV for WHS abd buy a Media MVP? Is there SageTV software that will run on the Media MVP hardware and if so how much does it cost? Any other ideas? This idea competes with getting a used Tivo Series 2 with a lifetime subscription and that idea is about $250. Thanks in advance from a Sage product line noob, Scott |

For the Media MVP you need a license
http://store.sagetv.com/Merchant2/me...tegory_Code=SS The software is automatically downloaded to the MVP from the Sage server when it boots up. You won't be browsing Windows shares Wireless MVP's are picky. Make sure you have good/great signal and running G. |

Sage for WHS includes one placeshifter/extender license so if you get an MVP from someone other than Sage you don't need to buy another license (if you buy it from Sage, it includes a license in the cost)
However I would seriously consider an HD100 over the MVP, it's a MUCH better extender. |

Just slap your PVR150 in the WHS server and go. For the price difference get yourself the HD100. It's the better choice and better for when you do go to HD. You'll also be better off going wired than wireless in the long run also.
