Is it possible to just install the Arcosft H.264 codec without software?
Is it possible to just install the H.264 codec without installing all of the of the software like TME? I need an H.264 codec to install on a Sage client.
For example could I copy H264Core.dll to the client and type "regsvr32 H264Core.dll"? Should it then work in Sage Client? Or is there more to it than that? Or are there other codecs that I could use - if so where would I get them? |

If all you need is a codec then get CoreAVC. What is the issue in installing the TME software? That's all I did was install the TME software on my client. It usually depends on the software as far as what you need. It's usally a .ax file with regsvr32 but sometimes more registry entries are required-it depends.

Thanks for your responses Gerry - the issue with TME is dealt with on another threat that I started - TME appears to cause a conflict with MCE. In that other thread you suggest stopping ehtray. But then how do you start it to go back to MCE - is that easy to do? And will stopping ehtray affect MCE V1 Extender connections or MCE recordings? I want to be able to still run both Sage Client and MC as seemlessly as possible on this PC for the time being.

As long as ehtray.exe is running it is going to respond to certain button pushes on the MCE remote (Green Button, Guide, TV, etc.) that will cause MCE to start up. On MCE 2005 I just renamed it to ehtry.old when I was running Sage. It will be a pain but your MCE extenders shoudl continue to work. The other way would be to end the ehtray process when your machine boots and to double click it when you want to use the remote to control MCE.

I use a Harmony remote so the ideal situation while I run both would be to press an Activity button that would start Sage and then put the remote in Sage mode. Could I not then remap those buttons - like Guide, etc. to different IR codes and also reprogram Sage so that it responds to these different buttons.
But I can deal with the remote conflict issue later - first I want to deal with the MCE crapping out when I install Sage Client + Arcsoft TME. |
