Tried Searching and can't find...

is there any reason to buy the PVR-350 card if I'm going to be using SageTV? The hardware decoding sounds like a great feature, but it seems like SageTV doesn't use it. Have people experienced performance issues with running the PVR-250 and doing other things? e.g. watching news or a show while "working"? Will SageTV support hardware decoding in the future or is this really not an issue?

Also, has anyone gotten the ATI remote to work with SageTV and the SageTV service?

Thanks in advance.

Nils

I have 2 PVR-250's capturing and (S/W) Playback going on my 1.6GHz HTPC using WinXP VMR and the Elecard S/W Decoders and have been very happy with the results. Where I see glitches is when starting up IE most of all. And I find the glitches most noticable in the Audio (as my eyes probably aren't looking at the Video at that time).

Correction: I may be wrong about which Video S/W Decoder I am using...

We are currently working on supporting the Hardware Decoding function of the PVR-350. I can't promise a release date yet. However, you will only get the video, no OSD functionality.

I'm also running two tuners on a Celeron 1.4Ghz with the Intervideo Decoders that shipped with the PVR-250 card without a hitch. I believe my PC averages about 30% utilization during playback.

You could use the ATI remote, if you were to also use an IRMan to receive the commands. We don't support the remote directly because we don't support the Tuner portion of the AIW card.

What Dan didn't know is that ATI's remote is RF, so it won't work with the IRMan. But I do believe Girder has support for the ATI remote, so you can use it through that.
