Wiz.Bin Backup?
It occurred to me yesterday that maybe i should be backing up my wiz.bin file daily since it contains all my favorites, watched shows and other stuff.
Do you concur? Also, are there any other files i should back up regularly that would cause me grief if i lost and had to reinstall SageTV?

Wiz.bin and Sage.properties are the main ones. If you've installed any customizations, there may be additional config files associated with those. Safest thing is to back up the whole directory.

I have a copy of the whole directory that I copy once a week, and then I do daily backups of the wiz.bin and properties files.
Also, Babgvant wrote a nice little utility to help create archive backups. http://babgvant.com/blogs/andyvt/arc...ckupfiles.aspx |

There's a sticky in this forum for SageTV utilities & some backup solutions are listed there.
Which reminds me: Quote:

If I know about utilities & so on, I can add links to appropriate stickies... though I'm not sure how many people actually check them out. - Andy

I didn't post anything about the other utilities (MigrateMCtoSage and DTB were mentioned in some threads I think) either. Should I?

We all do Andy, just moments after you tell us exactly where to look and how to use the spoon (I especially liked the airplane noises). Thanks for that btw, but when do I get to learn about the fork?

It only backs up individual files. Wouldn't be hard to modify it to support widecards.

Thanks. I've set it to back up the bin and properties files which is sufficient.

I've set up the Windows backup program to do a daily backup of the Wiz.bin and properties files daily and a weekly system backup of the whole Sage directory and support files on my server to a HDD reserved just for this purpose. This is on top of having the Sage install on a RAID drive for redundancy. Other PCs in the house also backup to this drive as well.

I use Second Copy to backup selected files/folders automatically on a schedule and keep the last N versions.
