Does convert work with H.264 files?
I know that it doesn't really make sense to run convert to save disk space but it might make sense to run a conversion to be able to convert H.264 files for portable devices. When I have tried to convert H.264 files it didn't work properly - is this a feature that doesn't work with H.264 files from the HD-PVR?

no, it doesn't. not yet anyway. the ffmpeg library the (6.4.8) SageTVTranscoder is built on doesn't support it. frankly, I'm not sure if the current ffmpeg builds do either, I haven't been tracking that myself. anyone know the status?
you can always manually compress the .ts files using the ArcSoft TotalMedia Extreme utility included with the HD-PVR. it has preset settings for all kinds of devices, including iPods, iPhones etc.

Thanks phelme. Is this mentioned anywhere in the Sage documentation? I looked but didn't see it.
What else doesn't work with H.264 files? I believe Placeshifter is another thing, is it not? Anything else? |

Actually, Placeshifter does play back H.264 files that are in MPEG4 containers, but won't play the transport streams of HD-PVR files (yet). that's one benefit of converting them with ArcSoft Media Converter.

Is there a way to convert the HD PVR files with the arcsoft tool but still have them maintain their episode information (like when sage converts them)?
Instead of having them show up under imported videos. |
