Keyboard and Sage?

Melloware and shadeblue...question for you guys.

Does the intelliremote keyboard work with Sage/Extender as an input device? I do not seem to be able to get it to work. Does it send it character by character or the entire string to Sage?

Thanks for your help!

adchang,

Correct me if I am wrong Shadeblue?

I don't think so. Intelliremote sends character by character from the iPhone to the Intelliremote PC Server. The server receives the character (let's say the letter 'B') and then emulate a keyboard press of 'B' to the currently active Window on your machine. The extender is only accessed through HTTP web calls from Intelliremote through Nielm's web server. So there would be no way to send HTTP commands for every letter pushed on the keyboard.

Thanks. I see.

I took a look at Shadeblues' config file and I believe we can map the letter keys as http web calls.

Would it be too much to ask to add an enhancement to the Intelliremote PC Server to have a configurable option (by device profile) to send keyboard as Script Events as well?

That might be a bit much to ask. It would be a pretty major code change for me and not sure it would be valuable to all users. Sorry!

FYI, I'm not sure the keyboard "keys" are exposed as commands via Neilm's web server of via the Sage command API. I think keyboard input is handled in some other way using a different API that may not current be exposed to the HTTP server. Needs more investigation :-)

Looking at Nielm's code and the Sage API, I now realize my original idea would not work, as it needs to correspond to an actual SageCommand (I was thinking that we just needed to provide the keyboard mapping).

However, I have another idea. Can we send multiple Num commands to replicate the user input, ie the character "B" would be "Num 2" twice? I tried in Intelliremote where I issued 2 http calls to the Num 2 command, and it gave me the "B" in Sage.

Yes, that should work, at least in theory :-) But I guess there is still the issue that Intelliremote does not provide hooks to redirect keyboard input to scriptable calls.
