Occasion hiccup with live SD cable
About once every 60 seconds when watching live SD TV (analog cable) the picture freezes for 1/4-1/2 of a second.
If I view the recording that SageTV makes with media player lite, the hiccup is actually in the recording (and not just a playback issue in SageTV). My system is all new: MSI 945 Neo5-F LGA 775 Intel 945GC ATX Intel Motherboard Core 2 Duo E6200 2 GB (2X1GB chips) of PC2-6400 ram ATI 3450 video card Hauppauge 1800 Old 80 GB IDE hard drive (boot drive) 750 GB SATA Samsung hard drive (formatted to 64k clusters) for all recordings. Analog cable is split 2 ways upon entry to the house, 1 goes to a cable modem and the other to this PC. I have a radio shack 15dB amplifier installed in the split that goes to the PC. At the PC the cable goes into a 4 way splitter with 2 inputs going into the 1800 (the other 2 are to go into an already ordered 1600). Fresh install of Vista ultimate x86 SP1 (also tried a fresh install of XP SP3) Installed all the latest drivers for the video card and hauppauge. Install a fresh new copy of SageTV. Choose great (2.0 GB) recording quality Set the recording directories to use the new 64k 750GB drive. Choose the best option for display quality (although I tried them all). I have tried purevideo decoder and AC3Filter with no luck. What could be causing the hiccups on the actual recording? |

To my best guess I would say something is tasking the harddrive or your tuner card is freezing up during recording.
I would probably check on tuner card driver to make sure it all up to date and also see if there any other applications that using the harddrive while SageTV is recording. My shadowanalyzer does task the harddrive when a recording start because I can see a very quick warp in the video when shadowanalyzer kicks in which spikes the CPU usage up and back down real quick. Bill

I've got a new Hauppauge 1600 tuner card on the way. Hopefully that will give me a bit of insight to the problem.
Thanks for the response. |
