Server 2003 & Sage

Can Sage Server run on WS2k3 enterprise?

Is there anything I need to change up for it if it does?

The service runs just fine. From what I hear, playback is quite the trick to get working though.

That's what I do. That or a client. It's only tricky if you want to do playback on the Server 2K3 machine.

I currently have a dedicated machine that stores and plays all my media. But I just cant seem to get it working right.

I plan to implement WS2k3 anyways so I thought instead of buying a new machine, just buy some HD100's and turn the dedicated into the server.

Stanger... your only 234 miles (4 hours) from me... come help me.. lol

I have beer and BBQ

What's not working right?

2k3 server and HD100s should work great though.

I don't run Windows 2003 Enterprise, but I do run Windows 2003 Standard Server. It works fine running Sage and all my tuners, including those with only XP drivers. I don't view any videos on it.

I also use it as my home server for storing music, photos, etc. 'Works fine.

I also use HD Extenders everywhere.

Two things..

I am using a HD-PVR and cant seem to get a good picture. I get soo close, but I either have audio sync issues or theres a halo of pixelation around people or object when in motion. It doesnt bother ME so much as it bothers my wife.

I also can't get sage to change my STB up past channel 94..lol for example when I push 245 with the remote it goes to 45, if I go to channel 243 it goes to 11. But iff I do 11 it goes to 11 and 05 to 05 and so on. I am using USB-UIRT. (on a side note I order some parts to try serial)

I just wonder how long till HD extenders are available again.

FYI this is my sytem setup currently..

Case: Zalman HD160
Mboard: ASUS Maximus
Proc: Q6600
Memory: 2G OCZ
Video Card: Radeon HD 3870
Sound Card: B-Enspire (/w SP-DIF I/O)
Tuner: HD PVR
Source: DirecTV H21-100
IR: USB-UIRT
Remote: Harmony 890 Advanced

Rumor has it, the newer HD PVR drivers improve sync. As for the blocking, what recording quality are you using? And have you compared it to the source?

That's bizarre, I'd probably run through the tuner setup again. My USB-UIRT changes channels just fine, all the way up to the 9000s on Dish.

Do the numbers show up right in Sage, is it just tuning to the wrong channel?

Yes I have compared to source and it is vastly different. I have the quality cranked on the recording.

It used to be worse, but I actually tweeked my Video card settings and it got better. (Catalyst kinda blows. I think what made it significantly better was forcing the refresh rate to 120hz)

Think it makes a difference if my HTPC is connected through my audio reciever 1st, then to my TV? Or should I be connecting directly to the TV?

----

As for the remote.. it shows up in sage perfectly... but as I watch the (horribly ugly) directv OSD, it tends to miss a number here and there (seems the 2 is usually missing)
