Hauppauge 1800, Gentoo, Troublehooting...

The point of this post is twofold. First I would like to here from anyone using the 1800 with Analog cable on a GNU/Linux system. Second, I'm trying to troubleshoot a problem with playing the output from /dev/video0. Although, cat /dev/video0 > test.mpg clearly writes data to a file. I cannot play that file in mplayer which is probably why SageTV is not currently working. Any suggestions? By the way, I can play valid MPEG2 files with mplayer.

Here's some background information:

I have installed SageTV Server on a Gentoo box(2.6.25-gentoo-r8) with Hauppauge 1800 tuners and I have successfully installed the most recent version of V4L from the source repository, IVTV(1.2.0-r1), configured and built the server following the instructions here: http://linuxtv.org/v4lwiki/index.php...vices_(cx2388x). The tuner cards are successfully and correctly recognized and the all the devices show up under /dev.

Here is the relevant dmesg output:

I don't think you're problem is two-fold video0 is the analog port and the 1800 has had issues with it. I sold mine because I couldn't get it to work. I think I say your post on ivtv, it should get picked up by stoth. He's the creator of the driver.

1600, I am mostly pleased with it. I have one remaining issue which I am hoping the devs look at soon. When watching anything on the analog tuner, it will pixelate for a second and clear up. This started happening when they moved the drivers to v4l2 code base.

Fortunately, it doesn't drive me too batty because I primarily watch HD and HDPVR.
