Angry Missed Recording! GRRRRR

I need some help understanding how SageTV works and why it didn't record my show. I've been very happy with the program, but I have come across my first troublesome issue. I have two capture cards (PVR 250) in my system and had scheduled several recordings to take place tonight and there were a couple that overlapped and it looked like all things were a go. I even checked around 5 p.m. to make sure they were all scheduled to record and they were. Much to my surprise tonight when I came home later...it appears that SageTV had a conflict and never notified me. When I looked down in the task bar this evening, only then did it show the conflict icon and by then it was too late and the shows were over. It wound up not recording any of the shows that conflicted. I have two questions regarding this. 1.) Shouldn't conflicts be notified at least a day before the scheduled recording and not minutes before and 2.) Shouldn't SageTV at least have chosen to record something during that conflicted time instead of not recording anything at all? I don't have Intelligent Recording turned on, but it's my understanding you don't need to have it on for SageTV to choose which program to record during a conflict. Am I wrong with that assumption? Any help would be appreciated.

Did you by any chance have a SageClient connected when the conflict arose?

I did believe that Sage would make an assumption and record something, however, depending on your answer to the above question this may not be true.

No. I don't have a Sage Client running. Just SageTV minimized running in the taskbar. The odd thing was, when I double clicked on the conflict icon that evening, instead of just bringing up SageTV it loaded up the splash screen and all the files as if it was never active or in sleep mode to begin with (which I know it was when I left it at 5 p.m.). Anybody else ever have this issue?

Hmm.....by clicking on the sage icon in the systray it acted as if it was starting up? That makes no sense at all. I have seen it crash and leave the icon in the systray before. Usually when you move the mouse to it, it will disappear. I dont know how you were able to relaunch it from there. In any event it sounds as if Sage bombed for some reason. Have you checked your PC's event logs?

No. I have not checked my event log, but that is a good idea. Now that I think about it, I launched the program by using the PVR250 remote and not with the mouse and icon on taskbar. I have the remote set up to sleep and wake up SageTV and I think what you speculated Falchulk might have very well happened. Now I wonder if SageTV chokes if I don't answer a conflict issue. I'll have to look into this further. Thanks Falchulk for your insight.
