Vista Home Basic or Premium

I'm planning on building a new htpc and have most of the parts already...

Hauppauge HD-PVR, Gigabyte AMD 780g board , Athlon 64 X2 5200+, 4gigs DDR800 G.SKILL, 2x250GB SATA, 2x500GB ext USB2. Probly going to get an Nmedia 2000B case, so i just need an OS.. Hmmm...

Since I'll be going HD with this setup i figured i would try Vista as well (Im still a Vista Virgin) Now i've seen posts about disabling services in Vista (UAC? err somethin and ReadyBoost and SuperFetch etc... i dunno) are all these thing on Vista Home Basic and Premium? or just Premium? seeing as how Basic doesn't have media center or all that fancy desktop crap i dont need.

I have used XP for my old Sage HTPC for over 3 yrs now.. have no problems with it, stable. I am still very skepticle about vista. Should i just stick with XP for what im going to be using it for? Just Sage use basically, little bit of web browsing.

I would lean more towards Vista Business. While Vista Basic doesn't include the ghastly Vista Media Center it also doesn't include Aero which helps accelerate video, particularly HD video. Vista Business on the other hand enables Aero and does not include VMC. Vista Business also has the side benefit of being able to have the Remote Desktop server enabled on it if you ever need to remotely manage it.

There is a hack that allows RDP to work in Vista HP.
