0 length movies and cannot fast forward on Imported media
Hey I'm getting more and more video files which I cant seem to skip thorugh using fast forward and SageTV reports their length to be 0 hours 0 minutes.
I assume this is something with a codec issue? What is the best way for me to determine what codec is causing the problem and how to repair it? |

Nope, its just an issue where SageTV scans the import directory while the video is being downloaded/copied so it can't properly determine the duration and then saves 00:00 into its database. Then after that it just never bothers to recheck. Its a bug almost as old as Sage itself.
The easy fix is to remove it from the directory, scan, rename it and replace it, and scan again. The way to keep it from happening in the future is to download/create the videos in another directory and then copy them over to a media import directory. Is there any way to actually access this database and remove it's entry instead of moving and renaming files? I ask because I now have quite a few of these videos so it seems like it would be much easier if I could just delete it's entry from the DB and then re-scan. BTW: Maybe a similar issue, but I notice many times SageTV does not properly refresh imported videos. I would copy a new video in, and it does not show up on the list automatically. So I hit the option to refresh imported media and hit OK but it does not show up. I repeat this several times, until eventually the video appears. It seems to be hit-or-miss. Am I missing something? |
