Direct TV H23
hello,
does anyone here have the new H23 that directv is giving out for there service? I was wondering, Do these just down res the HD signal when setup for SD? If so, Do these have a better picture for SD than say my, D10-100's? I was considering having DTV upgrade my receivers.

If I were to hazzard a guess I would say the quality would be much better since the old SD channels on DTV were pretty crappy to begin with. Scaling down a HD signal to SD you'll have a very crisp SD signal, probably as good as a DVD player.
I suppose I could hook up the svideo on mine and see what it looks like. |

I did the (free) upgrade a couple of months ago from three H10's to three H23's.
Yep, they'll downrez the signal. I couldn't run any A/B tests, but the SD signal is pretty clean on downrezzed HD channels. I don't know if the picture is any better but it certainly as good as the old SD images. |
