Playback Exception Error (-4, 0x80040217), playing HD-PVR files
Testing STV after using BTV for a couple of years. Installed on first server with OTA recording last weekend, works pretty good. Decided to install on main server this morning. I get the above error when trying to watch live tv. This is using a HDPVR C2 with 1.1 driver software. I searched the forums, and only see this error on very old threads. Any idea how to fix it? Am running the newest Nvidia drivers on the 7600GT, the error mentions "problem rendering the video portion of the content for playback"
I guess this isn't a good sign. The reason I am looking at Sage is BTV seems to hang the HDPVR once a week and thats getting a bit tiring. -Bill |

Tried all those, changing the decoder to default actually changed the error message to 0x0 from the original. Is there a special codec I need to use for the HDPVR? I went through the sage manual and there is only one referece to Codec, not much to go on.
I rebooted and turned on BTV and watched live and it worked just fine with the HDPVR as the source. Last edited by bigbill; 10-25-2008 at 12:48 PM. |

Use the codec that comes with the HD-PVR. That would be installing Total Media Extreme on the PC you wish to view the recording.

That fixed it! Thanks. After installing that TME software I then had to reinstall the HDPVR drivers as they were yellow dots saying they couldn't start and then I had to completely reinstall SageTv again. But after all that its now working!! I guess I didn't have to install the TME with BTV so I never thought of installing it with STV.

Thanks. Installing the TME worked for me and oddly enough during the client install I had to use the highest settings.
Cheers. |
