I'm not sure what has happened as it used to work with the movie channels and I can't see that I have changed any of the settings, is anyone else having any decoding problems with UK movie channels?

Interestingly it decodes other channels it's just the movie channels that do not work.

For info I am using the Duolabs Smartbee which I think others are also using but with more success.

Anyone got any ideas?

Thanks,
My HD Movie channels are working fine. Are the SD movie channels working?

Can you do a manual recording in DVBE4Sage of a HD movie channel?

I use the Duolabs smartbee and NDSCam

Whitey,

I can not get SD or HD movies either manually or in service mode, I have also tried NDSCam in DVBViewer with the same results so it's nothing to do with DVBE4SAGE.

Strange because I can get almost all the channels except movies. I am assuming it is something to with NDSCam 0.0.0.7 but I cannot seem to work out what the problem is.

I have tried a couple of NDS cards with a couple of different card readers all with the same results. I get a message in the NDSCam monitor saying I do not have a subscription to the channel?

Next I'll try deleting all the NDSCam stuff and start a fresh and see if I have any luck, interestingly if I but BoxID=0 or the actually BoxID I get the same results but I am sure my BoxID is correct.

Thanks,

Hi,

Just to report, it's all fixed now thanks to some help from Whitey who sent me a fresh copy of NDSCam, mine must have been an old version or had something wrong with it.

Thanks for your help,

David

Tuner problems

I have struggled to get DVBE4SAGE working, I have pin pointed exactly what my issue is and wondered if somebody can help.

If I have a fresh install with a Technotrend 3200S card in everything works fine.

Then if I install any other DVBS Tuner, the Technotrend 3200S can no longer record from DVBE4SAGE stating the recording could not be started after 20 seconds, the rest of the log looks as it does when the card is working. Then if I remove all reference of the new tuner cards including in the registry entries, the Technotrend 3200S will start working again. Installing a new tuner must effect an ini file somewhere which then effects DVBE4SAGE

All tests are on FTA channels.

Additional info

After adding a tuner the Technotrend can no longer acquire a signal , unless I scan for channels in Sagetv, then the signal is acquired in DVBE4SAGE (after shutting Sage down)

DVBE4SAGE Technotrend vs Others

I had a quick read through the source code and there seems to be a fundamental difference between Technotrend cards and other, so I removed the Technotrend altogether and installed the TBS 6980 Dual, now I get the following problem, which seems to be based around a filter not loading

Your log shows tuner ordinal 3/4 are excluded by configuration in the ini file. What tuners are they?

Next up, my transponder configuration for initial discovery differs from yours. Might be worth trying these settings instead:

2010-06-24 11:22:04.718 #5: Starting initial run for autodiscovery, transponder data: Frequency=12285000, Symbol Rate=27500, Polarization=V, Modulation=Not defined, FEC=2/3

Thanks, I tried that but still no joy, it appears that after reading through the forum that my problem is Windows Home Server, it seems that when you add another tuner it breaks DVBE4SAGE, has anybody got round this problem, or did they move back to XP / W7

Chris,

Post up your .ini file, it does look like the cards are excluded as Mark Suggested. I am running 2 of these cards, but it is on win7 x64.

Home server is based on 2003 and has the dvb components inbuild, but the next version is based on 2008 and you need to hack to get support; I have done this but its never been stable, so i finally replaced the home server install.

BTW - did you get your other issues sorted?

Tuners

The excluded tuners are DVBT this install works perfectly until a new card is added, something that dvbe4sage reads from for tuner info changes When a new tuner is added to WHS, I think it's time to go W7 64 bit , but I am sure this issue is simple to fix, hence my reason for battling on. I think my wife wants me to give up now

Windows home server

It seems that WHS does not work properly with dvbe4sage, tuners seem to acquire a signal but cannot record, or they just cannot acquire a signal . I am now convinced that this is a WHS issue.

You can get it working, but a new tuner install or other changes can stop recordings

Thanks for that, i had seen people had had issues with WHS, I think i'll leave it for now then. I dont want to mess with working stable system. It would also have been good to use the sat inputs from the pinnacle 7010ix card as sage doesnt see them.

WHS

If you are running windows Home Server, these are some of the problems you can expect

Firstly 1 tuner works perfectly, everything is good - then

The tuner fails to acquire a signal, you kick it back into life by runnign dvbwviewer or anything that can access the tuner, but then it cannot start a recoding

You try manual frequencies this works, but does not help as Sage needs a channel number and for some reason DVBE4SAGE cannot lock on to one anymore

Reformat the system and all will be fine, until it stops working because you added or changed some hardware, basically WHS does not work with dvbe4sage and it seems to be a problem with dvbe4sage activating the tuner, WHS

If you are not running WHS and are in the UK I will send you my working ini

Hope this helps

Thanks for the help.

I am not running WHS, a new install of Windows 7.

Your ini would be appreciated. ( I am in the UK)

Thanks.

I don't think WHS is the issue with DVBE4Sage, I think it's very picky about the type of DVB-S(2) cards that are used. I use 2 TT cards with no issues. I did have 2 FireDTV cards and 1 TT card that worked, but when I added a fourth I got the tuning error. I think sticking to TT cards is the best idea for system compatibility and it's what Michael uses too.
