Installing the most recent DirectX didn't help.
These are my current settings. If I try and play a DVD, it crashes my computer with no warning message. If I try and play a ripped DVD, it says there was a capture error (displaying a TV channel), and crashes SageTV. My video card is an 8500DV ATI Radeon. Could this be the problem? It's running on an AMD XP 1800+ system.

Probably won't believe this, but after two days of messing with settings, I decided, well, it's been about 6 months or so since I downloaded new display drivers for my ATI card, so maybe that would help. I figured maybe WinXP SP2 jacked up my display driver, so why not.
Downloaded and installed it, rebooted, and now Sage will play DVD's! Sweet! Just checked, and now I can play ripped DVD's too. Can't wait to get my HTPC up and running. Thank you all for the help.
