Installing the most recent DirectX didn't help.

These are my current settings. If I try and play a DVD, it crashes my computer with no warning message. If I try and play a ripped DVD, it says there was a capture error (displaying a TV channel), and crashes SageTV.

My video card is an 8500DV ATI Radeon. Could this be the problem? It's running on an AMD XP 1800+ system.

For DVD you would want to specify a Video Decoder and Audio Decoder. Make sure to use one that can play DVD's. Also, you may want to try different audio renderers.

Probably won't believe this, but after two days of messing with settings, I decided, well, it's been about 6 months or so since I downloaded new display drivers for my ATI card, so maybe that would help. I figured maybe WinXP SP2 jacked up my display driver, so why not.

Downloaded and installed it, rebooted, and now Sage will play DVD's! Sweet! Just checked, and now I can play ripped DVD's too. Can't wait to get my HTPC up and running. Thank you all for the help.
