Just installed. Seems to work a little better with audio. The 1.1 drivers were working with DD but I got some popping and skipping right after changing a channel. This driver seems to get rid of this but it does seem to take a little longer for the audio to sync up with the video.

No thanks. I "upgraded" to this driver version and now I have micro stutters in EVR ust as I did with Overlay on the HD-PVR.

Have REV E1

I had REV D1 and it had a bad 5.1 Audio that sounded like jitter or under the water (as some else described).

I receive E1 on Friday and tried it with REV 1.1 Drivers. The sound was great and I recorded a movie from a Dish VIP611. The movie and the audio was fine but I had to delay the Audio by 700ms in Sage to sync them up.

Then I noticed that the HD-PVR was locking up (crashing?) whenever I changed the channel.

The VIP611 has three digital audio settings:
A) SPDIF/PCM (5.1 or 2.0 Audio) It sends out the source
B) SPDIF only (5.1 Convert 2.0 audio to 5.1)
C) PCM (2.0 convert 5.1 to 2.0)

Setting to C) fixed the problem but that locks me into 2.0 audio. I already had this working.

I need to try the new drivers tonight and see what happens. I will let you guys and gals know in about 2 hours.

REV E1 and 1.053 Did the trick

The new Rev E1 and drivers 1.053 finally have 5.1 working without 700ms audio to video 700ms missmatch. Also I can change channels without locking up the unit.

So finally I have a working solution.

FWIW, I am still getting A/V sync issues over optical with my Fios STB using this driver version. I have reverted back to the stereo inputs.

It looks like I was a little quick to jump the gun; when I heard good audio I didn't even think about sync and the recording didn't have many visual cues to match the audio with. I have an original unit without the fan. The sync seems inconsistent too so it looks like its back to stereo

Seems similar

Still getting occasional lockups on the latest driver. I've also noticed the occasional stutter but I'm not sure if its related or not.

I am pleased to announce I no longer get snap, crackle, pop when changing the channel. That helps when it's 9pm and the kids are sleeping and dad changes the channel. The snap crackle, pop didn't seem to care about what I had the volume set to.

New HD-PVR Drivers at Hauppauge?

http://www.hauppauge.com/site/suppor...ort_hdpvr.html

File name: hdpvr_v1053.zip
Date: November 21, 2008
File size: 4 MB

Has anyone tried these yet - I am curious to know if it is safe to start using 5.1 audio - in other words without lock-ups and crackling / popping.

I am still using the L/R RCA audio jacks and that works fine, just hoping to get 5.1 in my movies happening.

The title of this thread is "HD PVR version 1.0.5.3 whql" yet you're announcing the 1.053 drivers 29 posts in?

Either that or a mod moved your message over from another thread.

Anyway, this has been out a few days now and no major complaints plus comments that it fixed the audio popping. Sounds like a good thing; will have to try it on the ol' server tonight.

I just installed these drivers from work so I don't know how well they work. Plus my HD-PVR seems to be in a messed up state at the moment. I wish it would error more gracefully.

I didn't have an issue until the techs from Cox cable took the easy route and replaced my cable box with an earlier model that they had in their truck instead of getting it properly re-activated after my move. It seems the STB they gave me likes to shut itself off at inopportune times. Sometimes when this happens the HD-PVR will apparently freak out because it's not receiving a signal and then causes SageTV to go unresponsive.

I think I'm going go to the Cox store and trade my STB out with the excuse that I need one with an HDMI port and get one of the newer models again. The one I have is DVI. The other difference is that the newer STB's have a CableCard in them. The older ones do not.

At least my SageTV server is more stable now. I was having problems with my HDHR going batty every couple days. I discovered after poking around on the beta driver forum that one of the newer betas fixed a bug where some DHCP servers won't respond properly to renewing a lease upon expiration. This apparently causes the HDHR to freak out and have a blinking network status light. With that problem solved I've been able to run my server for quite a bit longer without needing to touch it.

Now if only I could fix my STB/HD-PVR problem.

How is that going to help? The problem isn't the STB changing the channels, the problem is the video and audio gets all out of sorts when changing.

Oh, sorry, I misread what you wrote. What I would suggest is to put a short delay before recording starts. That way the STB and the HD-PVR has a chance to sync before SageTV begins recording. You can do this by setting the mmc/encoders/xxx/delay_to_wait_after_tuning= where "xxx" is the value for your HD-PVR. The setting is in milliseconds so for a full second you'd put 1000 in there. I need mine set to 7000 because it can take that long for my STB to tune two digit channels. I'm trying to work on shortening that though. It's a rather long delay for my taste.

yeah, i have mine at 5000 with no luck. I have been playing with Windows 7 Media Center and i really like the look. Sage has alot of customization features, whereas MCE has the look. I like the look

The 1.053 driver is working well for me. In the same down time I set local_encoding_to_playback_delay to 5000. The combination of the two have fixed issues I had.

Changed out the MB in my server for a C2D setup. I didn't do a fresh install, just put in the new MB, "repaired" the windows install, and installed the new MB drivers. I was worried I'd have issues since this board is not as nice as the old P4 MB but it all worked fine and if anything the faster CPU reduces the stutter and audio issues after changing channels.

New drivers ARE NOT working for me unfortunately. My HDPVR is a rev C2. My STB has the same Dolby/PCM settings yours does. As soon as I switch it to Dolby I get the audio sound as though it is under water.

I've sent a support request to Hauppauge over a week ago but no replies. Will they RMA the C2 based on the 5.1 audio issues?
