Guide Data and Filesystem problems.
Wow what a weekend.
I decided to figure out this whole PVr thing over the long four day weekend (thanksgiving holiday in the US) and it has been an adventure so far. I tried the free ones first, got frustrated, and now I am here. This product is is very impressive except for these two issues: 1. Missing Guide Data. I have tried removing the source and re-adding, remapping the channels, looking in the savetv.properties file for some lines to delete (didn't find them) Now my machine is telling me that it can't reach the sageTV server for listings, and yes there is NO FIREWALL running at all. This is Digital OTA in the US -BTW. 2. Every once in a while STV just decides that it can't access the filesystem for recording. I have to go a choose a different folder for recording and it seems to work... for a while. No idea why this is happening. I'm going to evaluate some other software. I really really want something that just works. This is turning out to be a frustrating weekend. If anyone has any ideas about how to fix my problems with STV please let me know. I really like what i have seen of it and I would like to buy it if I can get these issues resolved. |

More information on your system would be helpful (tuner, operating system, etc.)
Not sure if this is the issue you're having with the missing guide data, but one problem I noticed with both digital OTA and QAM is that the channel names Sage selected after a scan were often wrong. I found that I need to manually look up the channels available in my area on zap2it.com, then change the channel name in Sage to match exactly what is shown in the zap2it guide. Some channels, however, didn't have an exact match - and I was unable to get listings for them. |

Tuner is the Hauppage WinTV HVR-1600 on windows xp sp3. I can't even get to the point of mapping the channels now, it keeps telling me that it can't reach the SageTV server. I can reach websites, ping everything, download stuff. I have turned off the firewall completely.
I am removing and reinstalling it now.. maybe that will help. |

Okay I choose the wrong channel set when I was setting up. I chose Digital TV for my market when I should have chosen "Local Broadcast". Works perfectly now!
I am going to keep trying this SageTV out - I really hope it keeps working it's my fave of all that I have tried. I'll be paying for it unless something bad happens. I can deal with re-selecting the record directory once in a while. thanks.. xpdx |
