sagetv linux no GUI

hi all since sagetv linux won't run on arch 64, I am trying out ubuntu. I can start the server with ./startsage but that only starts the server, where is the gui for configuring it?
If the gui for the server is supost to start with the server then something is wrong because all I get is "starting sagetv server " (words may not be correct but close, if I try to start the server again i get "server is already running" can some one help?

you need to install the placeshifter client for linux. There are debian packages for both the server and the placeshifter client.

I sure hope my 64-bit Arch setup doesn't find out about this!

when you start sage on the server, it runs in a headless mode. ie, the server is simply a server... no front end. Linux doesn not have "client" that you would use, so placeshifter is all you get.

If you want to acess sagetv on your server, when you are on the server, then you use placeshifter client to connect back to the local box.

so start the server, start client(placeshifter)
I'm sure I'll have more questions as I get further into this but thanks for all your help.
