HD video locks yet audio continues

Ok so this has been happening for some time now and I originally thought it was due to my harddrive not able to keep up however now I do not think that is the issue and think it is more of a software bug.

Rather often but not everytime when I go to watch either a recorded HD show or LiveTV the video will start and within a couple of frames just stop on one frame while the audio continues to play back fine. Sometimes if I pause or stop playback and wait several minutes it will work itself out, however if I stop SageTV client and restart it, it will play the recorded show or liveTV back just fine. I never have any stutter or problems during HD playback once I am able to get it to play. These issues are only with HDHomerun recordings.

I am running the latest HDHomerun firmware. I have 2 analog tuners as well, PVR150. Running SageTV in client/server mode on the same box. Machine details, Quad-core Athlon 9500, 2GB RAM on an AMD 780G motherboard using the intergated graphincs. Note this integrated graphics handles HD content just fine. This bug started happening I believe after a SageTV update many months ago.

I also have this happening, not every time but quite alot. And it is only the HDHR videos. I go back and play another video and then return back and that fixes it until next time. I can also make it happen if I hit the skip button several times. I have to be careful and after I hit the skip button several times, I wait a few seconds for the video to start playing before hitting it again.

I have this periodically also. Like mentioned already, if I hit the 10sec skip several times rapidly (like during football game)...the picture freezes, the audio continues for about 5 seconds, then the audio stops and the picture is frozen.

If I simply hit stop, then re-play the show, it starts where it froze and all is good. Happens a few times a week. Pretty easy to workaround, but glad to hear it is not just me.

There was another thread around that talked about disabling the "Automation" to prevent this from happening, but that did not fix for me....or that solution was for some slightly different issue.

UPDATE: I am on 6.4.10...have not tried the new beta yet.

Also, I am using all HD100 extenders....are you guys using extenders as well when getting the issue?

It isn't disabling automation, its disabling Animation. This has fixed my problem (for what testing I have done) with the HD100's. I was regularly getting freeze ups and I haven't had one since (although I only made the change a week ago).

I am having the same problem and I have submitted a bug report. It started a couple of weeks ago and is sending the WAF down. If I go play another show and then come back to the "frozen" show it picks back up where I left off.

I am not having this problem on my client, only on the main computer where the service is running and sage.exe is running to display shows. Since the client works fine I know it is not my hard drive or the recordings.

Hmmm. I got to get this fixed soon.

I am also having this issue, primarily after comskip jumps (using comskip playback for default STV). Has also occurred after manual skips and a couple times at random.

Did anyone ever resolve this issue? If so what fixed it for you? I seem to be suffering the same thing.

I had this problem and it was due to high CPU load. The codecs I was was using were not using DXVA/EVR/VMR9. I was using the PowerDVD codecs. I switch to Arcsoft codec and hardware acceleration works properly. My hardware:

CPU - Intel E6550
RAM - 2GB DDR2 800
GPU - ATI 4550 HD
Codecs - Arcsoft

So where would I get the Arcsoft codec? Is it a part of another package or can you get it by itself?

It's part of Total Media Theatre or Total Media Extreme.
