Sagetv. 6.5.3 Maybe faulty... 80070005 filesystem access error.
Help. I know I must be dumb...
My move to Vista has not been that great with lots of new things sent to confuse me. So after 3 days of trying to install I get the new betas from Silicondust 2081203beta1 and Sagetv. 6.5.3 This is a clean first time install on vista Ultimate. In SageTv I get to adding my tuners, 4 HDHRs and I get the '80070005 filesystem access error' . I have been reading for last 2 hours and changing things and no luck. This never happened in WinXP... maybe I should move back? In the Vista network sharing I changed things to 'public'. I tried 'private' I enabled Network discovery, File Sharing, Public Folder Sharing, Media Sharing, No luck. I read about adding paths in Sage.. that lost me.... Can anyone tell me in clear terms what to do.. I read Quote:

I believe now that Sagetv. 6.5.3 is faulty.
I believe now that Sagetv. 6.5.3 is faulty.
After 4 hours of trying to install this morning and getting errors I didn't get before I decided to try and install Sagetv. 6.5.2 Presto it installed without the filesystem errors on the same machine with nothing else changed but using 6.5.2 in place of 6.5.3 Am about to send bug report... Just what we need when they say you will need this for new 200's Kevin |

I just installed the beta in my vista machine and Installed fine... maybe your download got corrupted. Clear out your browser tempfiles and download again.

Just a suggestion. If you're not well versed in Vista and the security stuff you may want to restart. Disable the UAC before installing any apps. Turn off the warnings that tell you it is off. Make sure you're logged in as an Administator for any installs. And since you're installing Ultimate go in there and turn off all the Vista Media Center services before you start installing Sage.

I had to turn off UAC to get 6.5.2 to install, although you say that's working ok for you regardless. Well, I'd make sure UAC is turned off just in case.

after a clean install of Vista, disable UAC. Turn it back on if you want when all apps you need are installed.

RESOLVED
Update.
After a number of installs. Disabling User Account Control (Was New to me, as new to Vista) did fix my error problem. I did move on to my next issue of 'No Sgnal'. However after a few reboots SageTV found the tunners and I had TV most of the time. I have no virus software running. Firewall is off. I Updated to the new HDHR 20081205beta1. Did a tuner remove and add. SageTV seemed to do a good job of scanning the new HDHR 'Digital Cable' file and I had a install go through without any of the previous issues. Extender seems to be fine also. Thanks to those who gave me some pointers. Was a long 5 days. |
