Is it possible to add a 5th and 6th aspect ratio setting?
Okay, so I am wondering if this is possible. I currently have the following setup and I am looking for a solution. The only one I have come up with is to add 2 more aspect ratio settings.
I have 3 SD tuners that record in 4x3 and 3 HD tuners that record in 16x9. -For source I have left as is. -For 4x3 I have Zoom width 115% and Zoom height 108% (this cuts down on black bars while not losing much of the picture or distorting it too much) I also use this setting to "un-stretcho-vision" 4x3 programs stretched by some HD channels (such as TBS HD and History HD) -For 16x9 I have Zoom Width 100% and Zoom Height 134%. This setting lets me zoom in on the SD channels for letter boxed content. -For Fill I have left as is. I use this setting for animated programs like the simpsons or Family Guys where stretching isn't really that noticeable to me. My problem is I want to be able to Zoom in on HD Channels as well since some HD channels are broadcasting a letterboxed SD show in 4x3 ratio. (SciFI HD) Thus, giving it the windowbox effect. Zooming in would fix this (134% and 134%) however I don't have a free aspect ratio setting to do this. And finally, I'd like to be able to do "stretcho-vision" on HD channels as well to get rid of pillarboxing on an SD show. This again, is for animated shows. But, again, I do not have a free aspect ratio setting. Is this even possible? Any solutions? |

The core API supports just the four standard modes. To get more than that, you'd need to reserve one of the four as a scratchpad, and reconfigure it dynamically every time you start playback of a program that doesn't fit any of the other three. Not impossible, but probably not for Studio newbies either.
That said, I've never found a use for more than about three modes myself.

Unless you're using an HD extender, and then you can define an arbitrary number by using the built-in aspect ratio editor.
