HDHR and Multiple Audio Tracks
I have been having an issue with HDHR recordings of some shows on Fox. Occasionally the HDHR recording will contain 2 AC3 stereo audio streams, instead of the normal single AC3 5.1 stream. One of the audio streams contains no audio; the other stream contains all the audio.
I have only noticed the problem with Fox and only with some airings of some shows (House, Bones, Terminator, Simpsons). When the show is played back on the extender it (more often than not) chooses the wrong audio stream and I get no Audio. With a computer based client I can choose which audio stream to play from within Sage and all is good. Unfortunately my main interface is with the extender and I can't select the other audio stream (Sage: firmware update please to support multiple audio streams on the extender...) . This problem initially showed itself in early October after I upgraded SageTV to 6.4.8, the HDHR drivers to the August release firmware, and added a second HDHR (all in the same weekend). After downgrading SageTV to 6.3.10, and reverting the HDHR firmware to the April release the problem seemed to have gone away. However, it reappeared again last week (multiple times). Nothing has changed to my setup. I am wondering if anyone else experiences anything like this? My current thinking is it has something to do with the way Sage or the HDHR software initializes the recording and screws up the mpeg headers. Any ideas? Setup: SageTV 6.3.10, client HD100, 2x HDHR for OTA recordings, SageMC 6.3.7a

6.4.8 is the latest production version of SageTV with 6.5.3 being the latest beta. Silicon dust just released the latest production version of drivers and firmware for the HDHR. I think the recommendation would be to upgrade and reconfigure to see if it still happens. Silicondust can actually debug what the tuner is doing if you set it for that and open a support ticket.
I haven't seen your problem happen with my setup since the HDHR was first introduced. Gerry

I took your advice and upgraded my setup tonight. Upgraded to the latest sagetv 6.5.3 beta, hdhr 120908 drivers, and java 6.11. So far everything seems to be working. I was able to schedule a test recording on Fox and it recorded OK. The recording problem I was having was intermittent so I will wait and see. With the latest beta I have multiple audio stream support for mpegs on the extender. I never saw that in the update logs so thats a nice addition.

Great Background Audio
HDHR recordings had great background audio recorded as the main audio. Main audio was there but no way to access on MVP. Until: Told system not to always tune channels (unless it's a different channel) Changed from AC3Filter to Cyberlink audio codec. It looks that the problem might be the AC3filter, or Sage's interpretation of the data it collects. I'll look for an AC3 audio update. |

Audio Problem Fixed
Found audio update which fixed the problem for me. I was downloading 1.51a from a website, but discovered that I was actually getting 1.46. I went to another website and got 1.51a for the AC3filter--I have all of my audio, now.
