Question HD200 With LCD Monitor

This may sound like a stuipid question, but I want to ask it before I go shell out $600 and find out this isn't going to work....

I'd like to get an HD200 and hook it up to a regular old LCD monitor using an HDMI to DVI cable. Will this work? If so, do I need to make sure that the monitor supports HDCP?

Thanks in advance!

EDIT: I just thought of something else... Does it matter if the monitor is 16:9 or 16:10?

I took one of my hd200s into work for a little show and tell with the other computer geeks the other day. I couldn't get it to work with my Acer monitor. I hooked it up hdmi to dvi and I could tell the monitor was getting a signal because the whole screen turned a funky gray color, but I couldn't get a useable picture. We had to take it down to the conference room and hook it up via an s-video connection. It still got everyone's seal of approval though. Playing a movie off a memory key on a portable little box like that has a high geek approval factor.

Do you happen to remember what the native resolution of that acer monitor was? Or at least whether it was 16:9 or 16:10?

I have my HD200 connected to my Acer 21.5inch via HDMI. works perfectly. I did not test the DVI connection though. The monitor supports native 1080p.

I guess we'll see what happens. I just picked up this one:

ASUS VW246H

I'm planning on using HDMI, so hopefully there won't be any problems.

So I've had it hooked up now for a while, and everything looks ok. I did learn one important lesson, monitors don't have sleep timers!

I have noticed one thing. It looks like the menus and backgrounds aren't actually running at 1920x1080. I use a Digital Blasphemy background and it has the web address in the bottom right corner. If I had to take a guess, it looks like the image is being displayed at perhaps half the resolution. I'm wondering if anyone else has noticed this.

No, the menus are not displayed at 1080. This is/was due to a limitation in the HD100 hardware. I'm not sure if this could be updated for the HD200 hardware or if it also has the same limitations.

That is good info. I was thinking of hooking one up to my 26" LCD monitor instead of using the SageTV client or putting it on my 27" SD TV. That certainly makes it a better investment...

My 24" acer works well too. It has speakers so I connect it with hdmi.
