comskip/comskip monitor - firewall?/SageMc

Got a few questions...

Installed comskip, no problems there.

Started to install comskip monitor, but got to a point where it wanted to do something with my firewall. That seemed odd, so I aborted. Why would comskip monitor need to do anything related to my firewall?

So, I enabled the comskip monitoring built into SageMc. I have read in other posts that one of the advantages of comskip monitor over SageMc's monitor is that comskip monitor can launch multiple instances of comskip. Well, using SageMc's monitor, I've seem multiple instances of comskip running. Does that mean some of them are rogues that never terminated properly? Otherwise, the SageMc monitor seemed to work fine for me. Is there a way to keep it from running certain hours of the day, like comskip monitor.

Comskip Monitor is safe to run. Because it runs as a service and is configured using your browser, it probably uses ports on your machine that are monitored by your firewall. It's not really accessing anything outside the local machine (I'm assuming that you're running Comskip on the server, not on a client.)

Right, it want's to open a web page used to configure the program. That's probably why you're getting the message, because it's directing your browser to the setup page, which is generated by the program and not to an outside URL.
