How to tell Sage a file has moved (or changed)?
I took at quick look through the API docs and couldn't find anything to tell sage that I've moved or changed (from mpg to wmv for e.g.) a media file.
It obviously supports the functionality, at least internally (transcoder); is it publicly exposed? Thanks. |

All you need to do is remove the original file and replace it with a new one with the same name but different extension. To do it as clean as possible you should...
1) Move the new file to a SageTV recording or import directory with a .tmp ext. 2) Delete the original. 3) Change the ext of the new file to its real one. Then Sage will detect the new file and replace it in the database automatically. It works great in the latest 6.5 beta, not so much in 6.4 though. |

If it's a SageTV recording, the new file also needs to have the same time stamp as the original so that the time line displayed in SageTV is correct. I use touch to set the new file to the same timestamp as the original.

You don't need to do that anymore. Now, if Sage sees the file is a new format, it'll determine the new duration automatically.

Does that mean you can remove commercials w/o causing inssues?

Has anyone had problems with this method w/ the latest beta? It stopped working for me.

Figured it out. Sage is sensitive to case in the file ext (???) so replacing with MKV didn't work, where mkv did.

I hate to dig up an old post, but this isn't working. Replacing mpg's with mkv's is something I used to do all the time, but hadn't in quite some time.
Anyone know what the problem might be? A newer version of SageTV, or maybe because I moved from XP to win7. |
