Game Programming

I'm wondering if there is an easy way to embed a java game into the sage UI. I know I could write a game, if I wanted to write it mainly using the stv language, but what I want to do is write a game in java, but be able embed it within a Sage menu.

For example, if I was thinking of writing a simply Sudoku game, then I'd like to write the entire game in java, and then deploy it as an Applet (for web) or embedded within SageTV (in a panel?)

So for this to happen, I would need to be able to display something to a custom sage panel, and I'd need to be able to trap sage key/mouse events and pass them into my game.

Any ideas if this could happen? Or has someone done something similar that I could take a look at? Would their be any limitations... ie, can only use Awt, no Swing, etc.

Have you looked at GetEmbeddedPanel()? I haven't used it myself, but the description sounds promising for what you're trying to do.

It does sound promising.... i wish you had actually used it, so that you can could tell me if it supports keyboard events, mouse events, extenders, etc

I guess I'll have to do a small test before I dive in.
