Active Movie Window in Sage

Over the last 2 days I upgraded my Sage computer to a new motherboard and CPU combination. One of the many problems I have encountered is that now when I open a DVD or attempt to watch a live broadcast Sage opens an "Active Movie window" which is separate from the Sage screen.

This is a clean installation of XP Pro on a MSI 780G board. A clean install of Sage version 6.5.5.198

What the heck is this and can someone help me solve this problem?

I had the exact same problem before but then I changed disable dx9_exit_full_screen or something like that in the sage.properties and then it worked. I also played around with the VMR setting and audio filter.
It try to go to default VMR and see if this help.

However I have some weird problems with my GFX at the moment. I can only run in optimal performance mode not quality mode. If I run in quality mode I get no video when playing live-TV but sound. I need to investigate more what it wrong.

I'm betting you're using an ATI video of some sort. This usually happens depending on what version drivers and how it's configured. I've also seen it happen if you don't use the actual vendors drivers of your graphics card and just use the one's from ATI. You'll just have to find out what will work for you and make sure you have the latest DirectX installed.

You are right. I am using the integrated HD 3200 on the board.I originally thought the active movie window was something from them but did not know where to disable it or adjust it. I did update the Catalyst drivers and I do have the latest DX9 installed.

I had a HD3450 AGP card and initially had it until I applied a hotfox patch for agp cards and install 8.10. That and some tweaks seemed to take care of it appearing in front of everything. I'll still see it hang around sometimes after quitting SageTV with it minimized in the taskbar. But a few seconds later it goes away.
